Hoosiers for the street? Kinda dangerous if it rains, right?

You have to be very careful with Hoosiers on the street - even when dry. They are a very light tire and not near as much "structure" that a normal tire will have for road debris and objects that you may accidentally encounter.

Even more dangerous if you're following someone with Hoosiers. They will throw every pebble directly at your windshield. I can attribute my three windshield chips to Hoosiers on a GT, Hoosiers on a Viper, and a dump truck. :frown :lol

Has anyone been able to speak with Bridgestone and find out what is really going on? IE if its just an out of stock situation or if the tire is truly discontinued? If its gone, we are going to have to fine an alternative of some sort.

I asked Tire Rack what was going on with these tires, since they have them backordered. The response:

"I don't have any evidence these are discontinued. I don't show a date when they might make more but they are not labeled as discontinued."

Chip I thought you are running Hoosiers.

Ice,

I do, street and track, all the time. But I have 4 sets of wheels and I thought it would be good to have one set of regular tires. Maybe I'll need to drive in the rain someday.

Ron, they told me that too...at an extra cost (I think $25/tire)...and it sounded like they were just transferring existing stock from another location.

Tires are in stock

I ordered the Bridgestone tires yesterday from Tire Rack. Today, they sent an email that they already shipped them. Expected delivery date is early next week. The Tire Rack's prices have gone up for these tires since the beginning of this thread (see below), but they are in stock. If anyone runs into a problem with delays or are being told they are not in stock, please send me a PM and I'll get you the contact information to the person I spoke with.

Makes me wonder if hasty knee jerk reaction threads like this one that cause a spike in demand have anything to do with that.

Would not doubt it although the prices for these tires have been going up gradually for years.

My dear all Bridgestone "aficionados",

i was able to order through my last Ferraridealer (i brought at his dealership 2 F355 GTB's, 1 Maranello F 575M F1,and the last two F. i had, two F 430 GTB's)
two set's of rears in 345/35 ZR 19 size by phone, and few hours later he could confirm by phone, that it takes 2 days for delivery.
The prices here in switzerland also went up, as crude oil is used to produce these tyres for our cars, and the crude oil prices have gone up since the Ferrari Enzo did come out on the Geneva salon d'auto (MOTOR SHOW; ALWAYS IN BEGIN OF MARCH EVERY YEAR), many years ago.

I do keep my swiss tumbs up, that my US F GT owner's have the patience to get again the wonderful tyres, maybe you have to go with orders through serious tyredealers and not to try to order through the internet ( and then maybe get offered one's with production code from WXYZ, very old as we have seen here in this section!!)

sincerely
