Well, when you're following Ed Sims and roketman, it's hard to stay back when they are always on their brakes. :lol

I have two commemorative stone chips. One from a dump truck on the bridge from NO to NOLA at Rally 7. One from Ed Sims on the post-Rally 8 Rally heading to Lake Tahoe. They both bring back great memories.

I stay in front of Ed Sims in the freeways, but well behind him on the twisty roads.

At least they're not in your windshield (I hope)...

Yes, they are. I don't count stone chips on the body.

They look huge. Anybody have a detail picture of how much the sidewall will bow on stock BBS (upgrade/option) wheels compared to Goodyear F1s?

Tomcat, look at my post #88 in this thread. Not much sidewall bow at all. Tire tech was concerned but after mounting thought they looked ok. Only advice I got from others was to run the tire pressure at 30 psi to avoid excessive tire wear in the middle.

Gentlemen,

I have mounted a set of these Bridgestone tires on standard FGT wheels and they look and fit great. While they don't offer the grip of the Hoosier R-6 tires I use most of the time they are a big improvement over the Goodyears and because they are wider they look better. I didn't have any desire for a set of these until I read this damn thread. As soon as I'm told I can't get or have something I automatically go out and get some. Now I have 4 sets of wheels and tires. Good grief.

On the plus side, the Bridgestones can sit for months without going flat and that's handy. R-6's loose air pressure a lot faster than normal tires. Cheers.

Do you use nitrogen instead of air?

I have read all of the stories about how Hoosiers don't hold air as well as street tires. So before I had mine mounted I carefully inspected them and noticed a lot of molding spruces left on the beading surface. I pulled all of them off of all 4 tires, what a PITA! I don't know if I was just lucky or if pulling off the molding spruces did something, but all 4 of my Hoosiers hold air as well as any street tire I have owned. YMMV.

I do, I have a bottle in the shop. It is also air while trailering, or at track. easier to add air to tires than starting a compressor. Of course also will have less moisture, unless you have a high end compressor.

Do you use nitrogen instead of air?

Tomy,

I just use air. I have a compressor in my garage and thats what I use.

Ice,

That is great info. I'm going to dismount a set and do the same thing to see if that helps. I have put the mounted tires under water and I can never see where the air is seeping out. Thanks.

10 lb CO2 bottle. Used mainly for airing up after off-roading the 4WD, but always carry in the trailer while traveling.
