Great link thanks to all for sharing. Once you secure the tires how do you get them "safely" mounted. I have found many shops are just not equipped to mount such wide rims.

Thanks

If you get them from tire rack they have a list of local places but you need to call them to be sure they have the right equipment

Are you in the boondocks? I checked several places around here and all had "no metal touches the rim" equipment. My local Ford dealer has the latest. Given the difficulty of mounting run flats on even mainstream Toyotas, any volume dealer has to have the latest.

I would be more concerned about how they raise the car, if you're not taking the wheels off yourself. But, just ask. The answer should be "no metal."

And be sure they know not to attack the weights with a screwdriver. I always remove the wheels and wheel weights.

Best Regards,

Thank you for your inquiry. The reason you're not able to order those tires on the website is because the front size, 265/40R18, is no longer available. We haven't had that tire in stock for a few years. We still have the 19", and one other size in 19", but no 18" sizes are available anymore. I'm sorry

I found the best place to have my tires mounted is actually at my ford dealer. They have the state-of-the-art mounting machine. They have to be able to mount up to 22 inch wheels and tires.

Talk to Wyatt. Tell him that Kendall from Cool Tech has bought a lot of these from him.

Just bought rears from Discount Tire, expecting a 6 week wait like last time, got them in. 1 day 348 each used a price match from onlinetires.com

That's pretty good...especially since onlinetires is out of stock, so their "on sale price" is meaningless. In fact, they told me they might not honor the posted on sale price if and when they restocked. Actually, they were supposed to have new stock by now...IDK if they do, but $348 was posted for several months with no stock.

On line will price match if you speak up and if they have them

On-line generally has the best prices, but also generally the least stock. You pay $50 more at Tire Rack, but they have what you want when you want it. I waited 3 months at On-line, gave up and had tires from Tire Rack in a couple of days.

Yes, especially if you like to pelt the guy behind you with stones. That will keep him from following too close.

I try never to follow any vehicle too closely. Trucks can even worst than a FGT with Hoosiers.

Great advise. I always take my wheels off but I didn't remove the old weights. Discount Tire pealed them off but left all the adhesive on and put new weights on top of debris from the old weights. Live & learn.

Well, when you're following Ed Sims and roketman, it's hard to stay back when they are always on their brakes. :lol

I have two commemorative stone chips. One from a dump truck on the bridge from NO to NOLA at Rally 7. One from Ed Sims on the post-Rally 8 Rally heading to Lake Tahoe. They both bring back great memories.
