With the fender scoops, emblem, quarter scoop, fuel door, & door handle, that's a lot of business going on in a small area. Also, the spokes on the wheels are just too slender.....reminds me of bicycle wheels. While I'm at it, the ass end looks like it was cut off with a cheese knife.

Other than that, I guess it's not to terribly offensive. :lol

They don't seem overly fond of it over at Corvetteforum, and there are a lot of happy C6 Z06 owners.

No, I'm sure it will offer tremendous performance, but let's be honest: it's very cheesy looking. Those side scoops :ack The see through hood and spoiler are very JC Whitney. And holy lord, why not offer a real seat? I like the wheels in theory, but I've had polished wheels on Corvettes before, and I think by "polished" they mean "milky" :lol

I think the C6 Z06 is a much more attractive proposition, even at the same price. I mean 505 hp N/A, 3150 lb, vs. 620 hp S/C and 3350 lbs. You can add the trick brakes and aggressively tune the suspension on a C6Z for cheaper. Usually I'm not into the "cheaper/faster" argument, but that's what the Vette is for.

I'm not sure what the market is for this car. Guys who want a supercar won't dig the looks or the cheese ball design cues, guys who have dreamed of Vettes all their lives won't be able to afford the 6 figure price tag.

I may get bashed...still dont understand why for +8mph in top speed and and -1 second in 0-60mph the z06 or zr1 is worth $40-60k+ over a base vette? They all look the same?

The new super vette should be a very interesting performer, particularly with a pulley upgrade. I thought the goal was 2900 lbs, but, even with carbon ceramic rotors, apparently it will be about 200 pounds heavier than a Z06. Chevrolet is attempting to one-up the performance of the flagship speed performers of the exotic marques...on the street, strip and track :cheers

All complaints aside, I would be willing to bet they are gonna command big $$$ over sticker for a long time, if not for the entire production run. Now, if Chevrolet makes the mistake of producing as many of these cars as they did the z06, then get ready for some BIG depreciations. The Z06 market is already hurting.
Keep the production numbers low, and they will be a value holder for long to come. I like the wheels personally. Was really getting tired of the older style 5 spoke design. Dont get me wrong, I love 5 spoke wheels, but like to have a different flavor now and then.

Maybe lose the plexiglass engine cover and add a little more wheel/tire to fill the rear haunches....other than that, I think it looks great!

It's going to look sweet in their chrome yellow paint. Black too.

Most of you know I was a Chevy man all my life before buying my GT ... regardless, I have to say I don't care for the looks of the ZR1 at all ...nor do I like the idea of DROPPING the cubes down to pre-LS7 size. Ya - I "get it" as far as the thin cyl walls not taking boost - but THAT could be remedied ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

As for the wheels...:ack WHO will want 'em?

Overall, I have to agree with Dave. It's a plain cheesy design exercise no matter how one looks at it. "Gimmicky" looking might be a better way to put it. And that's really too bad...

'Just MHO.

Dave hit the nail on the head.

One of the things I love about my C4 ZR-1 is the understated, integrated wide bodywork. The new car looks like a cover model for the Eckler's catalog. :frown

The magnetic ride and CC brakes should be wonderful, though. If they would offer those on the Z06...now that would be the ultimate Vette.

I'm just wondering if this car looks better "in person", you know?

I remember I wasn't really all that impressed with the looks of the '06 ZO6 when pics of IT were first released, but, when I actually SAW one (yellow) in person - me likey'd.

'Wonder if the same will be the case this time around? :shrug

you'd have to get the experience of tracking them to see the difference......even the Callaway C6 wasn't as impressive as the stock Z06 IMO......

I'm wondering if it will handle as well as a Z06 with the added 200 pounds, although the ceramic brakes are sweet! Wish our GTs had them.

I suprises me how much weight a blower system can add. The real weight gain must have been more closer to 300 lbs, given they added lighter body panels and ceramic rotors.

I doesn't look like a 3.3 Whipple will fit under the stock intercooler and hood.

I wonder if the ceramic brake system can be bolted on the a Z06. That would be a nice upgrade!

Did they pull out the ZR1 name because it sounds like GR-1? SS or Z07 would have fit nicely.

Now that the dust over on the Vette forum has started to settle it is interesting to read the current takes. My impression is that as guys start to grasp the "position" that this car may be intended for, more and more are starting to appreciate the design. True, it is not the "track" car that many were expecting and hoping for. It may be more of a Grand Touring car, and at that it will be world class in my opinion. It is funny, many of them griped about how heavy it appears to be (3330 or so), and that is actually pretty light - it is just that the expectation was 2900 lbs, and no fully optioned car can do that. The more I think about the car, the more I like it.

Those brakes, CF roof, axles, and close ratio trans would be awesome on my C6 Z06.

Now if only the magnetic select ride was available as an option on the '09 Z06...I'd have a reason to trade my car in.
