Now that the dust over on the Vette forum has started to settle it is interesting to read the current takes. My impression is that as guys start to grasp the "position" that this car may be intended for, more and more are starting to appreciate the design. True, it is not the "track" car that many were expecting and hoping for. It may be more of a Grand Touring car, and at that it will be world class in my opinion. It is funny, many of them griped about how heavy it appears to be (3330 or so), and that is actually pretty light - it is just that the expectation was 2900 lbs, and no fully optioned car can do that. The more I think about the car, the more I like it.
Yeah, I definitely don't get the griping about the weight. The list of sub-3400 pound sports cars is extremely thin. Even at 3350, it's still lighter than the dedicated track version of the Viper. A car like the Lambo Superleggera ("superlight") that Lambo claims weighs 3k weighs over 3400 here on planet earth. You get to cars like the SLR or M6 and you're 3700-3900 pounds. People are freaking out saying "how can it handle with an extra 200 lbs"; a Nissan GT-R is getting automotive journalists worship for it's handling and it weighs almost 3900 lbs. 3350 is nothing, and I'm sure the car will ultimately come with around 650 hp. Should be Enzo fast.
I'm never going to get over the looks though. If they put that stuff on an Asian car the domestic crowd would be screaming bloody Ricer murder. :lol
Who's planning on buying one?
