Hopefully the prices on these trannys, etc will get more realistic. I agree that $20k is crazy especially if there are gonna be longevity issues.

If the GT-R's part prices are anything like the FGT's prices, they only go up with time!

I purchased one after selling my modded EVO..I think the car is fantastic in all departments... including the looks..but I love Japan..I have dusted many a car in my daily driving environment without effort. I can't really believe it myself. My car is very tight and shockingly fast..in contrast, my GT has 660 rear wheel horses and other mods to suspension and motor mounts.. I must admit that going from one to the other I am amazed at how fast and competent this GTR is....but with less intense visceral experience..It is more about how it does everything with complete confidence in all weather changes..rock solid..that really impresses. Obviously, I would chose our gals over it if given one choice, but as a daily driver and the price.. It can't be beat..If you love practical sports cars.. As far as the tranny issues, mine has 4000 miles without a hiccup, responds beautifully and feels solid to me..but I would never launch the car...any car....you are just asking for trouble.
Everywhere I go people follow and become very excited...recently an elderly type couple responded. Everybody seems to know this car..great marketing I guess...If the fluids are changes with regular intervals and the car is not launched I feel that the tranny will be reliable. In any case the warranty for power train is 5 year/60,000 miles..... so to all you haters....relax

no worries with the GT tranny

I, & a lot of other owners, have launched the hell out of GTs with not a whimper from our trannies. Why have a peformance car that you have to drive like a grandma?

I've already expelled too much from this keyboard about this vs. the GTR etc. Frankly, it is tiresom.

I'm just looking forward to the forthcoming review :) Now come on ;)

I have always been fascinated by the reasons people buy certain cars and in this case would love some insight. Please share.

Respectfully,

Sam

BTW, when Sam uses the word "fascinated" it can be a cleverly disguised synonym for "amused"

:biggrin Just kidding Sam. :thumbsup

think about this.........

If Nissan posted a time that did not come close to other supercars no one would be talking about them and buying them as strong as they are.

One little lie and look at all the free attention they are getting.

Zactly.

I really like the GT-R, don't take my comments the wrong way but wouldn't trade it for my Porsche 2009 C4S with PDK. No way!

As to the FGT...double no way!

Amen,

we are not haters, I have other cars and yes I also have a japanese car as well, Im just a realist, like jason said nissan flat out lied, got a lot of attention, and now they are back peddling, just think about this, has there ever,.... ever been another car where you could push some buttons and void its warrenty, thats the equivalent of ford putting on a button on the gt, that increases the timing and lets say increases power, then advertise the gt as an enzo killer, then when it comes to selling it make people sign a waiver that if they use this function their warrenty would be voided, douh.... ofcourse it would be void thats why car companies dont do that , I just dont undrestand how nissan thought they could.

I seem to recall reading that the GPS records the location of the car, and if it is tracked the warranty is voided. Can someone please confirn,

and another thing... if nissan is setting a precedent on how car manufacturers can get out of doing warranty work by putting a black box on every car then claim according to their data the car was not used in its intended purpose then we should all be worrrrried.

In Japan, the car is limited to 111 mph unless on a Nissan-OK'd race track. This is determined by the GPS in the car. To my knowledge, this is not the case with the USA spec car.

Well looking at the listing of testing times and dates for the RING I don't see any official time logged at the RING for Nissan after Porsche tested the GT-R and came up with times consistent with times obtained by others. Whats VERY interesting is the BEST time for the GT-R at the RING by FAR was with Nissan. All the other multiple times for the GT-R were 25 to 30 or more seconds slower. Hmmmm. Makes one wonder...doesn't it. In fact the Porsche test of the GT-R was the second fastest of multiple track tests by others for the GT-R. I don't think you can say Porsche/Walter Rohrl needs driving lessons. I would suspect Nissan perhaps was using a special GT-R..or perhpas Toshio Suzuki is that much faster than anybody else and if thats so then maybe we need to have Toshio drive all the others to get a real apples to apples comparison.

I'm just not buying a 4000 lbs 475hp car does the ring in "Enzo' or CCX Koenigsegg, Carrera GT or GT2 territory. Sorry. Not when multiple tests by others are 25 seconds off the pace with a GT-R. Nissan is obvisously "selling" this story but I ain't buy'n. I didn't fall off the cabbage truck yesterday.

Is the GT-R fast. I sure it is. Is it Koenigsegg etc..fast. No way.
what about the GTR setting one of the fastest laps ever on the short Top Gear track?

BTW, I'm just trying to represent the other side for the sake of discussion. I'm not really a GTR fan.

The Nissan side will say, "do you really need launch control on a track to get fast lap times? This car was not designed as a drag racer."

Everybody seems to know this car..great marketing I guess...

Marketing staff at the LA Auto Show appeared appropriately equipped to stimulate interest of target demographic.
