I just took delivery of the much praised Nissan GT-R. I drove it about 400 miles over the weekend through hill and dale. So far, I'm impressed.

Why did they have to make it so ugly? 10+ people take photos of my GT when I drive it. No one can tell me that would happen with a GTR. Uggh!

You would be surprised how many "JDM fanboys" take pics of the GTRs. My buddy had the first one in Texas and it got way more attention than my old GT at the car meets. I'm assuming it had to with the newness of the car.
As to Nissan's claim of its Nuremburg Ring time, Porsche challenged that time and did its own testing with non "race" tires" and a stock GT-R and came up with 7:54. Porsche knows the RING and I believe their numbers are probably accurate.
yes, but then didn't Nissan retest, and got the same time (or near enough) and basically told Porsche to get driving lessons? :rofl
As far as invoking emotion inside you, the Ford GT does it like very few cars every made. A GTR cannot hold a candle to the GT.
However, for a track junkie that wants the ultimate bang for the buck, the GTR is great car. You can daily drive one and then go out the the track and bust pretty much everything out there for 80 grand.
A 4300 miles GTR, which looked as good as a GTR can look, went across the block at the Manheim High Line Auction in Atlanta today for $64,500. Now, that's a track car bargain :cheers

Lets stop comparing the GTR to cars twice its price and compare them to cars that fall in the same price/class range. .[/QUOTE said:It was Nissan that compared it to those cars, thats how they were able to get so much hype about the car. if your going to talk the talk , you have to walk the walk , and so far it seems like they are lacking. every unmodified car that I have seen tested on the drag, has posted times in the low 12.00s to high 11s, nissan claimed low 11s and high 10s. that is yet another arena where they have fallen short, and now that there is no launch control anymore it will be interesting to see the revised numbers. I think for the price (like you say shelby) it is a wonderfull car, if your into playstation and all that.:biggrin but I dont think it would stand the test of time, and I dont think it will be revered like its predecessor, time will tell, just think how many people would consider buying a used one knowing well that once the warranty is over they may be looking at a 20000 dolllar tranny repair bill in the cars future. it is clear that the tranny may be a weak link, now that therey is this uncertainty out there it can not be good for the cars resale value, not knowing what the previous owner has done with the car.
