It would be great to hear the comparos of the 2 on a track driven by the same driver. Better yet, the 3rd option being Hennessey's SC/TT configuration. It sounds like a great show for Tanner to consider!!!

As we all know each would be very different and yet all would be a fricken "blast" !!!

Now this does not discouint how much fun these gals are in OEM trim too.

Takes care

On a technical road course, Roketman would be the faster in a bone stock FGT with Hoosier tires than most any other owner in their modded FGT.

It is the man behind the wheel!

Too true. When I did the GT school one of Richard Hille's guest instructors was an older gentleman with a race prepped Chevy Cobalt that he raced on some circuit. He brought it out to show us it was not all about horsepower and did the three fastest laps of the day on the big track at Willow. We had a variety of Whipple's, pulley/tune's and one TT GTX-1 and this little Cobalt with a couple hundred horsepower ran the best times. It is definitely the driver. :cheers

Would like to see him on the same track as Olthoff in a real GT40.

The turbos always run a bit cooler tho. My problem has always been fear of that "wall of power" coming out of a turn with turbos. I simply lack the skill to cope with it.

Yes, this is the nail on the head. While the turbos may have a little bit of a cooling advantage - the question is in dealing with the power curve and when/where it comes on - as you roll on the power. One of the gentlemen attending the Rally has a lot of road racing experience and previously had a Whippled GT and then went to a TT and just recently went to our TT V2. The jury is still out. The Whipple car had a lot of over heating on high temp days but an "oh so linear" power delivery. TT runs cooler but takes some getting used to. With the V2 TT, the power curve will be lowered and there will be more area under the curve - but still not in the league of a SC. "Tastes great. Less filling." There's no perfect right!

Ed's modifications are indeed intriguing as it is a very nice blend. Lower boost would typically equate to less heat but then the engine work to build the big HP. The TQ curve was a flat monster.

The other attractive component of Ed's build is that the Whipple is still CARB approved and even with the internal mods when equipped with Cats I would suspect tha there is no problem with CA Smog. This is a BIG difference compared to the TTs...

I wouldn't take this bet, nor would I take the bet if he shows up in a "mere Mustang" with OEM (albeit Corsa's) tires. I think the the LS is his hands is gonna be a lot to deal with for the GT's!

Wow, I was gone for 3 days & then my thread took off! Thanks for all the comments & support. For what I use my GT for it is now perfect. Thanks Shadowman. I will upgrade the fuel system before the April MM.

Almost 3500 hits in a weekend is a decent thread.

Ed

PS My great hope is that we can all get along as I like all of you. The contributions to the GT community from everyone are appreciated by me. Life is too short. Peace my friends.

I'm new to the FGT family but not to forced induction vehicles and have followed this thread with some interest. Virtually every performance car forum has the same predictable responses when someone post dyno figures and I see spirited debate is still with us! Don't you love bench racing.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have some observations.

About 10 years ago when the Porsche boards got so heated with threats and lawyers over dyno figures and performance enhancements, a aero space project engineer named Bill Sino came up with the 60-130 acceleration timing as a solution to performance claims. His theory was it's the power under the curve and by eliminating the inconsistencies with launching a car, or the dyno operator or weather one would have a truer measurement. This forum has the thread 60-130 , why not hook up the Performance Box and give us the numbers and post them.

You read the bible? Well there's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The post of the righteous user is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the forum of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost posters. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My forum. And you will know I am the Admin when I lay My delete key upon you."

Now... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you heard it, that meant your ass. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was some cold-blooded shit to say to a mother****er before I popped a ban on his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinking: maybe it means you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous user. And Mr. Delete Key here... he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the forum of darkness. Or it could mean, you're the righteous user and I'm the shepherd, and it's the Internet that's evil and selfish. And I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin' user. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd....

I must be on viperalley!

(my personal experience) my 2nd gen whipple made 825 with no spray on a dynojet after we built the motor, first pass, no tunning,(on the same tune as before the the motor work), we didnt do anymore tunning as I was about to spray the car and we didnt have time. so we only tuned for spray after,
I would imagine with a little more tunning we would have reached 850is
that was on 20 lbs of boost
we didnt change the compression on my motor and we picked up near 90 hp with the cams, and ported heads alone. that makes a difference and increasing the compression makes yet more of a difference, there is no doubt in my mind that eds car will make everybit of 850, i would go as far as saying if he really wanted to on race gas and 4 liter whipple and enough fuel it will make well over a 1000

but I like mullets idea of side by side,
maybe at one of the future rallys we can have a side by side half a mile race or something like that. I wouldnt miss that rally :)

Thank you Soroush for your shared experience.

Based on the numbers we saw and the overall dyno activity with more fuel we too feel that she is 1000 RWHP plus with her extreme torque curve that makes her a tire shreader, a hand full, and IMO very worthy of some respect.

Yesterday after everythhing was completed we decided to install a new AccuFab Mono blade throttle body just to see how she would respond to it and by the time we were able to do a dyno pull it was "very" hot and so was she and even though we commanded more timing the discharge air temps were such that the PCM retarded the timing to "only" 11 degrees and still she made 805 RWHP at 6100 RPM.

FYI we have tried this throttle body on the OEM motors and saw only minimal gains however with this gals heart and the fact that she is able to breath on an extreme level we feel certain that it is worth nearly 50 RWHP when surrounded by the needed tune.

Thank you again

Shadowman
