Gentlemen,

Today I wedged my new GT into my 80" between the wheel wells Trailex. I already modified the rear part of the inner fender wells for more rear wheel clearance but there are other issues. Getting to the strap anchor in front of the right rear wheel is almost impossible. A few more trailer mods next week and I'll be good to go.

Chip

I have an appointment early tomorrow morning with an aluminum fabricator to modify the fender wells on my two car Featherlight hauler. My new ATC single car hauler worked well to haul the NGT to Detroit last week with about an inch and a half on each side of the rear wheel well. The nice thing about the ATC is that the driver side side wheel well is removable giving me about four extra inches for margin of error.

Our NGT has been trailered I think 4 times now. A little tip I was given, Put the car into "wet" mode when pulling into the trailer. It very nicely slows things down, less jumpy (really slows the throttle position ramp).

Chip and Tim... Since I gave my Trailer to the University Of Pittsburgh Formula SAE race team, I plan to just drive H0098 from Detroit to Atlanta.
Surely I will be a little more dirty and 'buggy' when I arrive , but I will see you guys there ! I will see how fast I can make the trip and not receive a speeding ticket.

More activity for J161

So it’s been five days since getting my car wrapped. Two car shows and a full track day at Nelson Ledges today since Friday. I Had the good fortune of having two friends who recently purchased new FP350S race cars rent Nelson Ledges for the day. While they tested and tuned, I ran my new GT and my 2016 Viper ACR extreme aero. Beautiful day on a recently repaved historic track. The Nelson Ledges Road course was one of the premiere 24 hour endurance races hosting Paul Newman among other famous racers. The new surface was something to get used to, as I’ve grown accustom to the many bumps and potholes. The new GT was so smooth, it felt like I was just cruising down the interstate. I can’t belive how capable the new GT is!

Popped the mirrors off the car today getting it prepared for suntek. Thanks to specracer for his pictorial on doing this made the job very quick and efficient.

How bad does it look it you keep mirrors on the car and Xpel around them? How many have removed the mirrors first?

My mirrors were left on the car . All you see is a small seam about 1.5 inch between the mirror base and the side glass molding... does not look bad at all .
Mine was done about a year ago after I took delivery.

Now I am told , Motor City Solutions where I had mine done, have developed a 'mirror removal process" for all of the recent and future cars being done .
Tim's car most likely had the mirrors removed. Each car they do seems to get 'better and better".

Caffeine & Carburetors in New Canaan Ct on 9/16. One of the largest Cars & Coffee's in the area. Over 1,000 cars and almost 5,000 attendees. As always the GT was a huge hit! Photos courtesy of Bearded Mug Media.

Hey Chip,

I have a Trailex 84180 trailer that i was interested in using when I get my NFGT. The trailer has 84" between the wheel wells and I have lift up doors on both sides so tire anchor attachment access shouldn't be a problem for me. My trailer has factory supplied 14" wheels, winch, 6" extra height added to the base model and e-trac down both sides for over the wheels car tie downs. Sounds like your Trailex model is slightly different than mine.

Based on what you have done I have some questions:
  1. With 84" between the wheel wells is this going to be enough room or would I need to modify the wheel wells to get a NFGT to fit?
  2. Do you winch your car in?
  3. Can you open the drivers door enough to get in the car or does the trailer roof prohibit opening the car door?

My trailer works perfectly fine for transporting my current GT so hope it would also work with a NFGT too.

Thanks,
Gary

My old trailers 83 in between the wheel wells but the inside upper edge of the wheel wells are angled and it clears fairly well. I had added 1" to the floor for clearance a few years ago which makes a big difference. I also had to add extra E Track in the front to get my straps to Center over the tires better I think I'm going to do the rear also. I'm going to add an access door on the right side of the trailer at the rear wheel to be able to get to that wheel to strap it. Mirror clearance at the door opening is fairly tight also.
