The SCMC would like to invite all Ford GT owners to our upcoming events at Virginia International Raceway and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Please feel free to e-mail if you have any questions at tony@svtcobraclub.com.

NJMP event on July 17-18, 2009 information can be found here:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16585

VIR event on May 29-31, 2009 can be found here:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16584

Several Ford GT owners run with us and we'd like to see a bigger showing of these hi-po vehicles. If you are not in to open tracking, we're having a car show and optional "one session for 30 minute" on track Hyper Drives. Visit our site at www.svtcobraclub.com for more events in your area.

Thanks for letting me post this to share with your members. :wink

VIR event Sign Up in progress.

This event has been updated by Tony:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16584

There are at least 2 FGT owners signed up, and a third leaning towards it. The SCMC always provides a very well organized event, and this new Hyper Drive offers a taste of track time for those that want to feel what it's like, but don't want to spend many sessions out there.

If you are not a club member or have never attended an SCMC on track event in the past then your price is $475.00 for three days.

On May 15, 2009 the price will be $525.00 to anyone who signs up after the early bird registration date.

If you just want to run full course on Friday then the cost is $240.00 for the day if you register before May 15, 2009. After May 15, 2009, the cost is $265.00 for the day. This pricing is for both club members and non-club members. There is no discount for one day events, only for three days of on track.

Hyper Drive = $60.00 = You can now do "Hyper drives" which is $60.00 a session. Basically, you get to take your car out on track for 30 minutes for one session with an instructor in car with you. You will have to pass a tech inspection and have a helmet or borrow one from someone who is not running.

Car Show = $20.00 no early bird registration required but we ask that you register early to help with organizing the event and to reserve your 10th Anniversary coin.

Banquet = $30.00 a person and we ask that you register for the banquet at least one week prior to the event.

Event Tee Shirts = $20.00 = There will be a small quantity of extras ordered for this event. You should order your tee shirt at least 3 weeks prior to the event.

Event Coin = Free = Only to the first 100 people who register for the event. This includes both track participants and show participants.

Dash Plaques = Free = To the first 50 people who enter the car show, no track participants will get one unless they enter the show.

10th Anniversary Jackets = Free = Anyone who attends the banquet will get an opportunity to win a 10th Anniversary jacket which will have an embroidered 10th anniversary logo on it. The key word here is a chance to win not guaranteed to win. Raffle tickets will be given out at the banquet.

Pace Car Jackets = Free = Only Pace Car owners will be eligible to win a "Pace Car" jacket. There will be two jackets given away and you must be present to win. We're not going to hunt you down to give away a free limited edition jacket. Raffle will be held at the banquet.

Car Show Awards - There will be at least 50 awards to be given away at the awards ceremony. Those that are leaving will get to have theirs given to them on Saturday after the show and those that are going to the banquet will get their awards there at a small ceremony.

Parade laps = Free = To anyone who enters the car show or track event. If you don't enter the show ($20.00) then you'll have to pay to do parade laps. Parade lap cost will be, you guessed it, $20.00. Enter the show and pay 20 bucks or pay $20.00 anyway to go out on track at lunch, your choice. We are doing the free parade laps as a courtesy and to get everyone involved in the event.

This sounds like a event that I would like to come up to. Do you have to run the same car all three days and what kind of cars will be in the car show. I have several cars that can be run on the track. Do I need a shop to tech the cars or can we do it in house. Bill

Bill,

as for what I think I might know, a car can be shared between drivers in different class designations. Two cars for one driver on different days, I will solicit an answer from the SCMC forum. I have almost no knowledge about the show, though it is probably a mostly Ford event; though the on track will be diverse. They will look over the car and generally trust the owner who must complete the tech form and sign. The pdf forms are available on the SCMC page.

Bill,

You can run different cars on the track as long as it is the same driver. The show is an "All Ford" show so anything starting from the 1900's to present can come out and show their vehicle. Spectators are allowed but have to pay a spectator fee. Your entry fee includes two adult three day passes, kids 14 and under get in free!

That would be YES, Thunderbolt Raceway. I heard it is a good course created by the same folks that brought us VIR.

Would the NJMP event be on the Thunderbolt raceway?

Both VIR and NJMP are great tracks and for those of you that are not into track, we're having a car show at both events, too. It would be nice to see a bunch of Ford GT's at the show or on parade laps. If we can get 10 of you to come out to each event, we'll do a "group photo" of you all on track during lunch time which would be an extremely cool picture to take back home with you.

Before you know it, it'll be time to run and gun!!

Joe,

are you looking at the Thunderbolt calender or the VIR? The VIR calender shows no conflict with the Aston group, or any other.

I am certain there will be others on the south course at VIR Sunday and Saturday but the SVT Cobra Mustang Club has the big track all to themselves on Friday.

Cobrabitn,

Your post on the SCMC website says:

"This events packet is mandatory to download prior to the event:"

I don't see any links to it. Can you give me a hint where to look?

Thanks

We have a couple of Ford GTs signed up for both events. Hopefully some more of you will come out and enjoy the weekend with us.

Also, Rod Short of the Mustang Enthusiast magazine will be there to cover this event. He told me tonight that we would get a 4-5 page spread in an upcoming issue of ME. He also writes for Hot Rod magazine so it'll be covered in two magazines.

He also said if you have a unique Mustang, Shelby, Cobra, or Ford then he may just do a feature shoot on your car. He's there for event coverage but never rule out a cool car making the magazines. :biggrin
