Both the C6Z06 and the GTR are worthy opponents if you look at it like that. And both are far more practical thean the GT. But people that buy a GT, Original Cobra, Enzo, Daytona Coupe and Original GT40 are not worried about practical, are they ? So that comparison in not valid IMO.
My fantasy experience with the Z in roll ons is that from 60ish the Z pulled my stock GT till about 90 and it was over. The Gearing in the Z has the edge. I was rolling on from 3rd, not a good place for the GT at 60mph. Tried in second an it was a different story. The GT has to be driven differently as one noted with a 4,500 launch for a drag comparison.
Driving the C6Z it just feels faster. That comes from the sound, vibrations or a Front engine car IMO. Hell , my C5 Z felt faster than my GT. It slings you back in the seat and the front end raises, the long tubes making music, revs are quick. You can feel the G's.
The GT is more like a Rocket Sled ...it's on rails. The front does not lift, the noise is behind you and the rush is a steady even force that is so smooth that mid triple digits and beyond come without any drama at all. You really don't realize how fast you are going till you check. The steering feel is near perfect, no outside vibes , just the wheel and the road.
All the storied comparisons on the street are not what I would call Apples to Apples, in driver skill, preparation, looking over your shoulder for good reason, etc.
IMO The Z is just plain brutal for a NA push rod motor. Kudos to GM for making simple big power. Just Cubes and weight mgmt. Nuff said, the best sports car value period.
The GTR at higher roll speeds I think would lose it's edge. But I have not tried this in my fantasy. The ones I have encountered on the street are more pre-occupie with taking pics of my car from the iphone than trying to challenge me. The GT is the favorite car of the CEO of the Gran Turismo series. He even posted a test of the two and the GT still wins. But the skille driver suggests he would rather have the GTR as a daily driver. What a Dork.
The GT stands alone in the styling and Platform worlds. There is no other car like it in the world, period, it stirs souls, gives you goose bumps, makes guys driving cars that are twice as expensive jealous. Set out a row of hot wheels and the kid picks the GTR...not. How many multiple GTR owers are there?
Is was also born with the the ability to mod simply and to ungodly HP numbers. Two Injectors per cyl, geez. A fuel system and bottom end that was made for not 550 hp but to satisfy to nearly 1,000 HP or more.
What were those GT team members thinking?. How about evolution ?, the foundation is there. I can't believe it didn't cross their minds. Pure Genius and fore thought, knowing the run was 2 years. We should be grateful. How would the 2007,2008...2009,2010...2011 models have evolved, if Fred and the boys had their way.

Many Forum Members own these evolved beasts today. Yet we talk about the 2005 numbers. Perhaps we should be testing these combos to see how they perform.
I think it would paint a significantly different picture. Would be nice to see this in print with the big 3 combos. The Bar would look much different. The car was built from scratch in a year. Imagine what 4 years of additional development would look like for the greatest American Platform ever.
