absolutely untrue.

you are confusing a Mile event in California with Texas.

I'll run it down for you.....

In Texas to run 190 mph plus you need only the following for your GT:

Helmet
Gloves
Suit
5 point harness
fire extinguisher

That is one of the things giving me pause on getting a TT. It is difficult for me to travel with the car out of state due to business time constraints and if I get the TT I will not be able to properly exercise it due to the 205 limit in Cali. Plus I would need somewhere to ship the car till I got there.

Seriously great runs all ways around by everyone. It was a blast to watch this thread over the weekend. :cheers

BTW Chip, I am sure it will be in your write up but what kind of tires did you run?

SkyRex,

We have PLENTY of places to store your car if you wanted to ship it to Houston, Fly in before the mile, and be there in Oct. We Houston guys can make that happen!!!:biggrin

One reason out of the way, NEXT.

why do I get this picture of Soroush sucking on a garden hose like he is trying to pull a golf ball through to get more fuels to his engine. Whatever it takes to get the job done........ :lol

If I suck on the hose then you'll be blowing the other end of it:biggrin

Hoosier R-6s

BTW Chip, I am sure it will be in your write up but what kind of tires did you run?

Rex,

I used the Hoosier R-6s that have been on my car since before Texas Rally IV. At Spring Mountain I used 28 lbs of tire pressure, and 30 lbs in the tires at the mile.

If someone had two sets of wheels & tires, I would recommend using the stock Goodyears on the front and Hoosiers on the rear. The front Hoosiers throw a lot of rocks that pound the hell out of my rocker panel racers tape at 200 plus miles per hour. The stock front tires would throw far fewer rocks.

Hi Guys,
Boy, we missed a bunch! Congrats to all and it sure was great to see and meet so many out there again. Monica and I were going to pass on running the car in Texas because I was not able to get the Hoosiers on rims before the event. I have had real issues with wheel spin in the first two gears with stock tires. Watching all the runs got the better of us so we took a couple of runs just to be a part of it all. It sure was a blast! Unfortunately, we had to be on the road Saturday so we missed most of the action. Oh well, next time I will be there with better tires and possibly more...:biggrin

I'm quoting this from another forum. Hopefully the info is factual.

Ed, the timing guru working the mile, is working on a new system for next event. He's going to keep the 132ft trap but break it down into 66ft sections for the high HP cars that are still accelerating at a HIGH RATE through the last 132ft. Remember when you look at your GPS you may have been in the gas a LITTLE past the mile marker also. I can also verify that his timing is far more accurate than the GPS will be.

Not sure who the source is but I agree that the cars that are still pulling hard will be at a disadvantage with the current timing system...

in talking to Tommy Bahn his logging equipment was registering similar numbers to ours... both the VBOX and MOTEC GPS on my car showed identical numbers and from a dead stop to the exact mile marker showed 2.6 mph higher than the Texas Mile numbers... having duplicate data sources I would think that they are extremely accurate. Also, at the other events it is my understanding that the clock numbers are taken at a point, not an average over a distance...

with that being said for the Texas Mile anyway everyone is clocked the same way the numbers are the numbers and that creates a good standard...

Mullet, your buddy (Eric?) has some shots on his flickr that include a White GT (14M) ripping down the end of the mile WITH HIS CLAMSHELL CLICKED OPEN!!!!! Yikes. That's lucky it didn't rip off, and quite a testament to the strength of the hooks........ Can I link the pic? Maybe he'll come on here and do it himself.

Just think about how much faster Kumar would have ran with the clamshell closed.
