These motors can handle 1000RWHP stock. But thats about as far as you can go. His new motor will be able to handle twice that amount.

bottom line

Joe, after all these posts I can't find anywhere what the 1012 HP car ran in the 1/4 on a clean pass - how did it do? Also do you have 0-60, 0-100, 0-150 MPH times also?

true there has not been a clean pass nor a 0-anything done..
a lot was experiment with tires as well as power and driving.. in the next build up there will be more of the 1/4 mile times ..

I have HRE wheels . stock size front . rear are 19x13 , with 345/35/19 REO50 Bridgestones. The rears stick better than the Hoosiers. They push the front on a road course and the Hoosiers win hands down. But if I was going to just straightline....I would try the big gummies. Unfortunately they are too wide for the stock rear wheel. YOu miight have seen my car at the rally.

I would avoid Bridgestone whereever I can. Unfortunately many cars i get (in Italy) come stock with bridgestone, like my recent 430 spider...
The reason the MC12 is so much faster on the track vs the enzo, and the 360stradale vs the 430, is that they have Pirelli P zero corsa, not Bridgestone RE..
The P zero corsa is basically a real Intermediate race tyre... Sticks like glue, and is still ok ish in the wet... My call here !

Stefan

PS: Working towards a set of corsas for the GT. Boy, will that make a difference

That was a great video - hugely enjoyable! I really laughed at the phone call to the girlfriend bit as well - you guys are having toooo much fun! :lol

I was so relieved that the car didn't hit that wall! My heart was in my mouth - jeez! Good driving to rescue that - many would have failed (me included no doubt).

Fantastic video - the essence of ownership...!

Better check there size range. I did...they do not make a combo that will retain front and rear ride height. THe 345/35/19 are about a 1/4 inch shorter than the factory tire. Bridgestone makes a 285/35/18 for the front that drops about 1/2 inch. The only fitments Pirelli has would actually raise the front and lower the rear. Not a good idea for downforce. I have a set of Hoosiers mounted on the factory rims that I keep at the track. I GUARANTEE THE REO50's STICK BETTER on the rear. The car oversteers with the factory setup,,,although very controllable. THe car understeers with the Pirellis...meaning it is pushing the fronts in the corners. Aren't you guys looking for more grip on the dragstrip?

If the ride heigth is slightly changed with new tires, couldn't the adjustable coil overs that mr2(Alex) sells, be adjusted to account for the difference?

I wouldn't be too worried about altering the rideheight. The car is not suddenly going to be a total different animal - downforce really comes into play above 100 mph, and who's saying that a lower front end couldn't make the GT handle better??

Joe,

I have not had my car on a 1/4 mile track and compared. On a road course, the car is still tail happy with the Hoosiers front and back. With the Bridgestones, the back sticks like glue and tries to push the car straight thru the corners. And I think anyone with a car that does 220, should be concerned about downforce.......

I believe the GT whups from a roll, but I don't know how it'd hold up to some of the E.Ts the Vipers put down...looks like you know something about that...

Does your viper have an automatic transmission or a sold rear axle?
