The dragstrip clip proves nothing. The driver was not familiar with big power cars. He lifted at the wrong time, and had to hold on for the ride. With a driver, there is no doubt that car will put down some good numbers at the track.
Ehh, Tony has driven tons of high horsepower cars, look at his webpage. I would blame un prepped track over driver error.

I'm just calling it like it is. I have been in plenty of situations where traction slips away. With big power cars, you have to keep applying power. When you let out, all of the weight shifts forward to the front tires placing further emphasis on steering input just when you need it the least.

I am no internet nutswinger. I am speaking from experience. I probably have more experience in 1000hp+ street cars than anyone here. You have to finesse these cars down the track/street. When you cross over into 4 digit power, you no longer have to "manhandle" the car. I am not knocking the guy for his mistake, but it was a mistake nonetheless.

I'm sure the run wasn't perfect. My comment was only replying to the "no experience" comment. I don't know Tony personally so I can't vouch for his skill., just know he has experience.

Gary is correct, it was a mistake.. The track wasnt up to par for what we were trying to do on Nitto Drag Radials.. Once the car got loose and began to drift I pedaled it and the car began the left hand turn.. You can hear me padal it once but it only made it worse.

However, once the car was past the point of no return I did manage to remember to apply power and turn the car away from the wall, stopping it from the rotation.. Once it was going back I hit the brakes and turned the wheel to bring it back around successfully I might add.

It was after that evening that Stage 6 added the boost controller.. That would have been the key I think to making the run without overpowering the Hoosier radials that are on the car now.

As with all things in life we learn from out mistakes. What we do with that knowledge gained is the key..

I can assure you that we will be better prepared on the next go round and I will again push the car and see what we can do.

Until then enjoy the videos and take all this as entertainment..

Tony,
No doubt you made a nice recovery. I have gotten into tricky situations in the past, and I'm sure it will happen again in the future. I hope I live to tell about it.

So tell us, did you have to change your shorts after that run? :lol :cheers

Hey girl! It seems the name has caught on. Here's something to use for your avatar. :biggrin
I appreciate the sense of humor Tony. Looks like there will be a Boca based GT visiting you in the near future.

Hugh,
You need a reality check if you don't think Joe's car can outrun a stock Busa. My old blue Heffner gts KILLED a stock gsxr1000 and slightly outran a small t-busa. That car was making about 80rw less than Joe's car is now. I can tell you for a fact that this GT will hand a Busa it's ass at speed.

I know that. When I made the first post I had a brain fart and didn't realize the person I was answering was the owner of the 1000HP car.

I do know one or two Busas it won't be handing their asses to though. :)

I'm very interested in how these extreme HP cars will hold up over time. What the effects of the extra HP will be on tranny, drivetrain etc. Should be interesting. Just please drive those things safely and responsibly so both you and they are around for a long time.

Helen, I've met you and seen your track time.

You're solid!

Re: The "time" of these cars - there good till the next one come along with the stature that beats this "GT". I saw them being built. They are a hand made MONSTER's and are designed for MAX upgrades. Learn of the car before you judge it :cheers

Hugh,
Got it. I know that a decked out T-Busa is untouchable on the street, but our little street cars do OK.

That's one of MANY reasons I am buying one. I'm just a bit nervous about 1000HP going through a British tranny. I'm an ex Lotus Turbo Esprit owner.

Thanks for the video guys. It brought back the feeling of being in the car. I hope Joe doesn't get in trouble with the authorities going fast on the street in the video. Hopefully they can't tell where the car was bouncing off of 160.

The busa showed 218 on the gps. I'm guessing that if you could redline 6th the GT would make 240. If you had a driver crazy enough to do it.

Calling the wife was priceless (bla bla bla). I had the exact conversation last Sunday when my boat didn't make it back to the slip fast enough for her. She wasn't on the boat.

If your nervous don't buy it. We have more then one of these running around right now and outside of clutch problems which we have solved the transmission has not been an issue. Joe's car is a testament to that and mine as well.

Hugh,
I just noticed this.

1993 Red/Black NSX - 171,500 and still rockin'
2001 Suzuki Hayabusa - The Millenium Falcon
2006 Ford GT Yellow/Black (Coming Soon!)

You have a GT on order? How long before it is here. I bet you are excited to get it.

Not on order. I've been shopping the secondary market. As long as they continue to drop I'll hold off. I'm very patient. Plus the NSX is my daily driver and when the GT gets here it's going into the shop for some serious engine work and maybe some cosmetic upgrades too. That's a car I never plan on selling.
