FGT Rally V - Registration!

Seems we went through this last year and it was determined (at least for those tracks) that a motorcycle helmet was allowed, as long as it had the right Snell certification, which I believe at the time was 2005. So, I guess the question is, "what does/will VIR require?"

Ed, I do believe the other difference is the MC helmet may be a single impact, as the SC is designed for multiple impacts?

M/C helmets do not have to "pass" the same flamibilty tests that are rquired for automotive use Snell approved helmets. From what I was told this is due to the rider being "generally" thrown away from his mount, and thus is removed physically from the area where exposure to a fire situation would be harmful.

Trying to confirm that my 720 bucks found purchase! New GT owner (yeah, it's red) but psyched about getting together with others in VA that love this car as much as i do! Just not sure paypal consecrated the deal? Can someone let me know if my order has been confirmed? Also, have a summer home in VA near Charllotesville about two hours from VIR....anyone that needs a place is welcome, undercover parking is not a problem

Next week out to the VDA here at Dearborn to practice drifting GT (ask specracer). Want to see your GT shirt, if it is real you will need to iron it. Dear DBK, what's the itinerary so far?

I've mailed the fee since paypal seemed unhappy with me. I'm planning the days taking wife's desires into account. Is it correct that Wed and Thurs we have the entire track for the entire day? And does it therefore make sense that karting would be a Friday event. IF track is available for all day Wed and Thurs, I know I, and I suspect others WON'T want to give any time away that could be spent with our FGT. And describing times/places for any other events that are pretty much set in stone would help me with planning.

Dave, did we ever find out the helmet requirements for VIR?

Mr. Grey Ghost, I put a couple calls to the track director Kevin Massey-Shaw in but couldn't get ahold of him. That said, in the VIR Country Club Technical Inspection Form, the Helmet Requirement is a Snell SA 2000 or greater helmet. There should be no difference in what we are doing versus their own requirements for the VIR Country Club members. Kevin also said that he would make helmets available to me for rental.

I had heard back from Josh Lief the general manager and he said it was up to the promoter/club holding the event.

Either way, I'm covered and just need to get off my butt now and get registered.
