Proper tips.

And those are the best tips you guys could do? Sorry boys, I'm a little disappointed. The rest looks swell though.

The whole back end is styled to look like a 1966 GT40 Mk I. Those tips are the only ones that look proper on that car IMO. I would like to see the exhaust crossover buried deeper in the car so I was not visable from behind but that's probably not possible. The car looks GREAT Rich. :thumbsup :cheers You must bring it to Rally IV.

Yeah, well, if we were going for the 60's look, they'd have a bundle of snakes. I think tips would give it a more, finished, professional look; and come on, these are the GTGuys - don't you expect THE best?

I'd certainly be interested in the kit - if we could get a set of tips that looked more like the Heffner/Bora ones - to make the outside diameter bigger and fill the appeture better - also if they were angled on the cut to sit better in the appeture?

Is that possible?

The bundle of snakes look would be the ultimate alas unfortunately impossible look. I get that lots of people like the big tips but to me they scream bolt on rice. They look appropriate on a new high tech car but the GT to me is a throwback. The tips that the GTGuy's use fit the image of a no frills function over form race exhaust that would be fitting the original era. Granted our cars are of this era and not from days of yore so I can understand the difference of opinion. Some like the old school look others the new.

Project update and thoughts

Well now that I have a few minutes of free time (since its Denis' turn to drive on the way to Carlisle) I have a few comments on the new kit.

Of course we would like to do the bundle of snakes headers but that would be a very costly and time intensive project since the removable frame rails and the airbox are in the way. The airbox could be relocated but not the frame rails. Also the inner structure of the clamshell would interfere with the routing also. I'm sure over time someone will do this but we felt now is not the time, at least for us.

As far as the size of the tips we just continued with the size of the pipe coming out of the catalyst, 3". They do look a bit big because we downsized the oval from the OE dimension on the stock lower screen to allow for more holes in the new upper screen instead of having all that empty space.

With reguards to the angle of the pipe we wanted the edge of the pipe to be parallel with the downward angle of the rear fascia in a profile point of view. As shown in pics below.

The recessed license plate even uses the OE lights and harness without modification. Making this a truly bolt on and reversible modification.

We do plan on offering this as a kit and we are working on pricing now depending on how many orders we get.

The new lower screen is just like our other bumper delete screen that allows the screen to be bolted to the frame rails so there is no downward movement of the rear fascia under high speeds. (But I would never exceed any posted speed limit.) Providing the same structural integrity of the OE assembly.

We could do custom tips if one wanted but that is not true to the original look. We felt this is the best way to get the bundle of snakes look from the outside point of view.

I just saw this car at Carlisle. It's even better in person. Every detail is perfect. He even blacked out the FORD logo on the front to go with the black/white theme.

Fantastic. :thumbsup
