That's not much of a response. I can tell you now there's some hurt feelings in the GM camp after all the hyperbolic smack talking they did. They really put the cart before the horse, which is strange in a town where everyone knows what everyone else is doing. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they would say "more power and torque than our competitors" and all this stuff about "performance unrivaled for the category" yada yada when it's been pretty common knowledge SVT was about to drop a bomb. Well they were right for about 5 minutes, but too bad nobody drove one while it was true. 12.0@119 isn't much better than what a current GT500 will do. It's far behind what a 2013 GT500 will do. I'm telling you now that the GT500 will go 125+ in the quarter without much hassle, and that's on 285 tires with an unprepared surface. Stick tires on the GT500 and I'll bet you $50 Evan Smith runs a 10 in a stock GT500 at E-town.
As for one upping each other, GM is dealing with a number of realities that do not give it the flexibility Ford has. ZR-1 has been 638 hp for 4 years. Z06 has been 505 hp for 7 years. It's not for lack of competition, and while they've made big time improvements, the improvement that counts most in the muscle car category is the ability to blast the dude next to you.
