what kind of gasket is in between the intercooler and the heads? is it hard to remove?

The intercooler doesn't bolt up to the heads. Here is a basic list of where the gaskets are located on the intake manifold/supercharger setup.

- supercharger flange to intake manifold - metal gasket

- intake manifold outlet flange to head - metal gasket

- intercooler flange to the intake manifold - no gasket

The metal gaskets just "pop" off. They don't have any silicone applied so there is no clean up necessary on the flanges (ie. scrapping).

I didn't find it very difficult to remove the intake manifold. Just time consuming. But I suggest that before doing work on these cars one should have patience and reference material (ie. service manual).

In order to get there you need to disconnect/remove any associated hoses (that connect to other componets). Remove wires that connect to the manifold. Slip the supercharger belt off the pulley. Drain the intercooler system. Then unbolt the manifold from the heads and lift off.

I purchased a Ford GT Service Manual (DVD) on Ebay. The DVD is absolutely awesome and provides all the information required to do the majority of work. Pictures and step by step process.

Ahhh, back to the methanol! My car is still making it's way back from Florida. It's still 2 vendors away before my methanol goes in. Should be a cool summer for us! :thumbsup

Hey Rick...who is going to do your methanol injection setup?

Side note I stock all of the intake gaskets and attachment hardware as well.

Snow Performance. The guy who is going to install it is out my way. He already has the system, just needs the car. :wink

do you think you could give us his name, I would be interested in possibly talking to him, after all nobody said you cant spray nitrous on top of meth injected whipple car:biggrin

If I understand correctly Snow Performance now has a water/methanol/nitrous system available.

I spoke with Bob today at Stiegemeier's about sending him my intake manifold. I will have him show polish the intake and possibly do some porting. In addition, I will probably have him install some nozzle bungs on the intake for the methanol nozzles.

I asked for Bob's opinion on where to locate the methanol nozzles. He couldn't give me a definative answer because most of his experience is with Eaton superchargers that have been methanol injected.

Bob recommend that I run 100% methanol instead of 50/50 water/methanol mix. He believes the only reason water/meth companies sell and market the 50/50 mix is due to the fact that 100% methanol is flammable. And no company wants the liability associated with selling a flammable product.

Methanol also is corrosive to aluminum. 100% more so!

Very good point. I definitely had a brain fart there...not sure what I was thinking. I didn't take chemistry in high school so maybe that explains it? :confused :biggrin

Port injection is the way to go! :thumbsup

None of the FGT methanol system I have seen have done port injection yet. I look forward to your progress reports and pictures.

I never gave direct port injection much thought. That is definitely something to look into. Thanks for the idea. :cheers

I have concerns with the other system whereby the methanol may corrode the thin fins of the intercooler. Port injection avoids that. The downside is that the cooler intake charge is not measured by the TMAP sensor thus tuning the car will be more of a art.

Thats why I was thinking of installing the nozzles on the bottom side of the intake manifold. Therefore injecting water/meth below the intercooler.

I appreciate your input!!:cheers

CV Vacuum Platers in B.C., Canada did the plating. Cost about $450 Canadian. Here is a link to their website:

http://www.cvvacuumplaters.com/

I chrome plated the air intake plenum so that it would "blend" with all the other chrome that will be in the engine compartment (polished supercharger, chrome plated braces, etc.).

Thanks for all the comments :thumbsup
