Source for TRUNK lid gas struts?

You were fortunate that the struts were in the parts system at that time. Not that struts are critical. But NOBODY could get struts for months. Unless a dealer happened to stock them, which would be very unusual.

    2020 Corvette thoughts?

I'm only gonna say one thing. But it needs to be said and nobody has said it. 3,600 pounds. C&D: "Chevy is being coy on weight by only divulging a dry-weight figure of 3366 pounds. That implies a curb weight of roughly 3600 pounds, which is about 150 pounds heavier than the C7 (which itself...

    Thunderbird or Thunderbolt

Because "sports car" sales, even very loosely defined to include sporty cars (like Mustang and Camaro), get lost in the rounding off of revenue by the accountants.

Source for Castrol Edge Supercar 5w-50?

I expect the NGT filter is lighter, because it must be made of titanium to cost what it does, like the Castrol oil.

Source for Castrol Edge Supercar 5w-50?

This makes no sense. The 05/06 is a cartridge. The 17+ is a spin on. FL-2024 is a cartridge that fits 05/06 only. Instead of $20 for this, get two Mann filters for $13.48. You were right the first time. FL-500S is one filter recommended by Ford for 17/19.

Vehicle registration now required to purchase parts

I explained that $990 is MSRP...SR meaning suggested retail, AKA the "list price." But retail, that is the sale of goods to the consumer, price is whatever I, the consumer, pay. You can call it discounted, on sale, special offer, but in fact any price I pay as a consumer buying from a retailer...

Vehicle registration now required to purchase parts

Apparently, someone thought that rear shocks cost $990 based on your post. But I get it. Your retail is $990. My retail is $571. Or maybe less. $571 was the first search return.

Vehicle registration now required to purchase parts

Uh... that is MSRP. Actual retail is about $570 with a quick Google. Fronts are about $250. Assuming the parts system can supply any.

Vehicle registration now required to purchase parts

Proof of ownership is the least of the problem. Dealers don't stock GT parts. And why would they tie up capital on slow moving inventory even if they were allowed to? They too are at the mercy of the Ford-level system. Example: Hood struts. Ford Parts tells the dealer in May they will be...

WTB OEM Muffler and brackets for 05/06 GT

It's been seven years, so my recollection is fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure all of the cat-back exhausts are designed to mount to the OEM brackets, which stay in place for the swap. So...what I have is 5230, and I'm pretty sure all the other parts are still on your car. Unless you have some unusual...

WTB OEM Muffler and brackets for 05/06 GT

You can have mine for $550 shipped. I don't know exact mileage, but for sure less than 3,000. 1st owner took it off the car at some point, then put it back on when he sold it to me at 3k miles, and I took it right off. I don't recall removing any parts besides the muffler. The tips, for...

What would you have done differently for your first 1000 miles?

I would get my delivery dealer to include the 1st oil change (as Ford should have done).

Source for Castrol Edge Supercar 5w-50?

The venerable Motorcraft 5W-50 and FL500S. Recommended by Ford for the GT since 2017. Open up the $75 filter and what will you find? Yep...paper and a bypass valve. And of course that means there are a slew of compatible filters for less than $10.

    4th blown alternator

Do you have headers? Headers will melt the wiring at the starter solenoid. See post #1 in this thread.

    4th blown alternator

What does "blew" mean? How do you know the alternators are bad? Do you bench test them? Are you replacing with Ford parts or third world? What are you rebuilding? Can't help with no information to go on.

Source for Castrol Edge Supercar 5w-50?

"Together, both companies rigorously tested and refined a bespoke engine oil blend, leading to the launch of Castrol EDGE SUPERCAR 5W-50 - recommended for the Ford GT." "Bespoke" is another way of saying this oil is made under contract for Ford. Edge Supercar 5W-50 Approved for use in...

    WTB Car cover

Here is an original car cover with bag for $659. The only useful piece is the bag, which fits nicely in the trunk. If it didn't say "Ford GT" it would be a $5 bag. The cover is good for trapping moisture and dragging grit across the paint. I have one used by the previous owner of my car...

Hagerty Renders an Opinion on Values

Man, there's some serious BS in that article. Just one example: "As is the case with the current GT, there was more demand than supply, meaning you had to be selected for ownership." 2k miles is "high usage." lol.
