Someone recently doubted my claim of a supercharged GT making over 800 rwhp on another thread so I thought it was time for a new dyno run. I have my GT at Shadowman's for a Rally tune up & here are the results.

850.7 hp at 6500 rpm & 869.4 torque at 3500 rpm on 91 octane pump gas & 17 lbs boost. I have low boost & timing to keep things mellow.

All of the 21 psi Whipples with 100 LESS RWHP should really be interested in the secret sauce! Oh, and the 19psi Gen 2 Whipples with 150 LESS RWHP should be paying attention too.

Where do you put the uranium pellets?

Ed, if you are ever in SoCal area I'll pay for the dyno session as I think clearly there's a calibration problem locally - perhaps due to the air quality differences from NorCal.

Yep, that's a lot of ponies for a car with 'just' a Whipple. Certainly a possible number but it would be hard to believe without additional significant tweaks.

Yes, the air polution in SoCal significantly lowers the HP. :lol

Great numbers Ed!

and this is with a Gen 2 with low boost!

Of course there is much more than a Gen2 to the puzzle.

Let me make clear; the numbers are not only correct and they have been duplicated on more than one dyno; now as to what was done to Ed's car; let me remind you that her heart was massaged and in fact I made clear of this long ago; crank, rods, pistons, cams, heads, etc. In short she has a fully massaged heart being assisted by a Gen II Whipple creating 17 PSI and her timing at peak is only 14 degrees. Now the reason that the dyno was only to roughly 6500 RPM is because she wants more fuel; as she is now the fuel system is OEM.

We have discussed addimng more fuel which would only better these numbers however based oon the manner that Ed uses his gal it has not been deemed necessary.

How about a simple comment like "very cool" rather than trying to shoot bullet holes in Ed's "badass" project. Your reply calls flag on the play as if Ed is a liar; why?

Thank you all for the kind words; Ed continues to enjoy his gal having in excess of 30K miles on her during which I have been given the opportunity to massage her along their journey.

I need to clarify that the dyno sheet shows in text 869 peak torques however this was a spike at the onset of the pull whereas the actual torque peak was 838.

The dyno chart as presented was with "smoothing" set on "1" for those that are wondering.

Lastly; my friend John aka AccuFab has worked me on several projects and the heart within Ed's gal is one of them. The gross head work for Ed's gal meaning the porting was completed by other than John aka AccuFab however he and his team did install and fit the custom valve guides and seats followed by the Ferrea valves supported by Manley springs and retainers and as the result of his hand fitting and attention to detail to the ports etc. they perform flawlessly.

Now in closing threads such as this are IMO to be fun; fun for the person sharing as well as for those compelled to read and reply. Ed made the decision to present the dyno chart something that I would “not” have done because inevitably someone will toss sour milk on it. I only use dynos for WOT tuning and then create the tunes in real time during real world driving acts so for me a dyno is simply another tool that I use to determine many things however wanting to create and present some “holy grail” of horsepower is not one of them.

To be clear; to duplicate Ed’s mechanical performance numbers is not a simple act nor is it an inexpensive one.

Years ago I used to tell people to create their own “lapel pin” dyno chart so that they would have something to present at the static display car shows because in all my years of participating in automotive racing events what it shows on paper meant nothing as it was all about who completed the act first.

They are and "no one" ever said you could bolt a Gen II Whipple on and have these results; impossible.

Ed - a "liar". No way!! I like Ed a lot and have a lot of respect for him. He's not the liar, I'm sorry if there was some confusion!

I guess in it's current config, I would expect the car to put a serious "whooping" on mere "normal" Whipple cars at the upcoming Mile venue. Can't wait to see what all this magical HP does to MPH when compared to others!!!!

I don't think Kendall is calling Ed a liar, at least I hope not. For as long as I have know Ed, calling him modest would be an understatement.

All dynos produce varying numbers and are not directly comparable. Given Shadowman has confirmed these number on more than one dyno I would tend to believe they are fairly accurate. I think given Kendall's generous offer to pay for the dyno session, all doubts can be put to rest at the UT rally where I am sure Miller Park has a dyno. Run Kendall's FGT with his Gen II as a baseline comparison and then run Ed's car. I think the results will show that Ed's car is the highest HP GenII FGT without N20.

I already knew the answer, i just wasnt clear on the details. I'm sure the car makes every ounce of the power suggested. Congrats to both Shadowman and Ed on a well engineered beast. Use it wisely, or don't get caught.

FYI your initial reply was IMO perfect as you made clear that all things are possible and that in the cased of Ed's gal it took more than simply a Gen II Whipple; truly no issues at all with what you stated.
