Hello Dennis. My son and I were just talking about you and your cool garage.

I've owned a 1975 Triumph T160 (3 cylinder motorcycle) for 23 years. I bought it for $800. It was in several boxes and I put it all back together with my future father in law in a weekend.

Hi Paul, The place has not changed much. I did sell the 49 Ford Woody, but have added a 56 T-Bird and a 67 Shelby clone. I do have two GT's here now, but just for the winter.

I have a friend here locally that has a 390 GTCS (lime green) with a similar story. The car has been sitting semi assembled and undriven for over 25 years.

Lime Green.... one of my favorite colors

Here is a someone who drove the same car for 82 years!

Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928. He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!! He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it. He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years). That's approximately 2000 miles per year...more than some Forum members put on their GT!

I have owned my matching numbers Camaro rs/ss since 1978 (33 yrs). I talked to the original (elderly) owner in 1973 about it when I first saw it parked behind his clothing store, down the alley from the garage I worked at after school. I told him I had neither money or a license yet but someday I would hopefully have both ! We spoke twice yearly untill '78 when his friend offered to sell him a new '78 Monte Carlo (which he had won in a Shick Shaving Contest) The car was valued at $3500 so if I gave him that amount he would sell me the car. The car has been with us ever since!

I lied.

I said I'd owned my grandfather's '37 Chrys for 45 years...I just found out today that I've actually owned it for just short of SIXTY YEARS.

'Went into one of my 'deposit boxes today in preparation for moving its contents to another 'secure facility in an undisclosed location', and ran across something I didn't know I had - an actual, offical gov't transfer-of-title form that grampa had filled out in April of 1951 wherein he'd transferred ownership of his car to me for, "one dollar and other valuable considerations"! So, I've legally "owned" that car since I was SIX!!! Can any of the rest of yeeeew slackers match THAT?! :rofl

I'm sure glad grampa didn't get into a pricey wreck w/injuries while STILL DRIVING MY CAR until about 1964!!! :eek :willy:willy

Assuming you took the car over at the age of 18, that would make you 78 years old. Good Lord...

You know we love you Larry...

1965 Impala 2-door hardtop.

I'm the second owner, my great aunt being the first. She bought it in El Paso when I was 4 (1/6/1965). Ironically, I was playing with my favorite Hot Wheels in the back seat floorboard when she drove it home from the dealer. The Hot Wheels in question was a GT-40. When she passed away in '93 I drove it from EP to Houston, and eventually did a frame-off restomod on it. Ram-Jet 350, TH350 trans, Posi, 4-wheel discs, Hotchkiss/Bilstein/Eibach suspension, Wheel Vintiques 17" aluminum repros of Rally Wheels, 10K paint job from the Lexus dealer, and a leather interior following the original stitch patterns and hiding a 9-channel 500watt stereo.

It's an excellent cruiser!

Good Day Longhorn.....as you will see from my signature , I too have a mid 60's full size Bow Tie. It is a '66 Caprice 2dr htp...originally a s/b p/g combo with buckets ,tilt p/w p/s etc. I restored it for my parents in '86 after my mother had put 86,000 miles on it.( My father bought it new in fall of 65). It was then parked and stored untill about 5 yrs ago when I acquired it from them and quickly tired of the restoration.:bored Consequently, it now has a 502 crate, 700r4, Auburn rear, Baer 4wh discs, Boyd smoothy II's, ride Tech , Global West, Custom Auto sound etc, etc.:banana Your are right...these things make excellent cruisers when done up right and are dead-nuts dependable!:thumbsup Enjoy your ride!!!

I bought my first car in 1973 for $100. A northeast rust bucket. Carpet kept rear passengers feet off the asphalt. Still have it. It may have had some work since then, after being sideswiped by a Peterbilt and being shot at. A 1965 Mustang Convertible, Caspian blue, real close to my midnight blue GT.

What makes it really impressive is that is has been a Michigan car for its entire life. Not too many survived the salt, 1st time drivers, et.al.

You and I, ...... related? You can leave me as much money as you wish, just no bills due. :banana:banana
