"CP1":

VIN: 1FAFP90SX4Y400004
  • Color: Black - no racing stripe, silver side stripe
  • Odometer:
  • J1,J2,J3 were 4Y400001, 2, and 3 respectively - this is the first engineering unit after the centennial cars
  • First CP (Confirmation Prototype) to be built which means it was the first fully representative prototype with full powertrain, body, and interior in the program - the "first full test vehicle"
  • The emission program was the critical path for the entire program - which is why it was the first one built
  • Used exclusively for Emissions Certification Testing
  • Has considerable content that never made it to production (not a complete list):
  • Aluminum splitter
  • Matte vinyl interior
  • Chrome shift knob
  • Birdirectional (exposed weave) carbon clamshell inner panel
  • Rockford Fosgate stereo
  • Blue Multimatic Dampers
  • Black engine valve covers
  • Black supercharger
  • Ford GT logo filler cap
  • Aluminum Roof Panel
  • Early prototype silver grommet seats
  • Still has emission lab test tail pipes on it and emissions feedgas panel on rocker

I'd like to just say, this thing is crazy. It is SO early. This is the 4th car built, or the FIRST car after the Centennial cars. I don't even know how to capture how much crazy historically significant non-production stuff is on here. Amazing.

TWO ADDITIONAL ENTICEMENTS!

One: The chance to come to SVT in Dearborn for a sneak peak at current and forthcoming SVT product (with signed non-disclosure agreement), and the chance to get a driving lesson in a Ford GT and Shelby Mustang GT500KR at the Ford proving grounds on the asphalt lake.

Two: I can now also state that the purchase of these vehicles will include the opportunity to be treated to a test ride at an undisclosed location in a new, as-yet unannounced forthcoming SVT product. LIPS ARE SEALED SO DON'T BOTHER ASKIN KIDS!

WOW!

Also, for historical record, Mr. Jamal Hameedi, Ford GT Program Manager drove the yellow Nardo car at over 200 mph on the autobahn in Germany with a journalist in the vehicle. I have confirmation from the man himself "that was the second scariest thing I've ever done in a vehicle." I didn't ask what was number 1.

No, because the plates get rotated to other vehicles. You will be provided a letter of authenticity on a Ford Motor Company indicating what plate it wore during it's tenure as a Ford GT test vehicle. However, because the plates change and are rotated it may not have been the same during the entire lifetime of the vehicle.

I appreciate the fact that the Ford guys are just going to accept our bids at face value with no letter of credit or proof required, unlike every other auction I've been to.

I assume they will keep track of who the second highest bidder was just in case though.:biggrin

Hey, we're all friends here. I'm sure nobody wants to be the forum guy that welched on a agreement to buy a car. This is a GIFT from SVT and Ford. I begged for this, and that Yellow car was destined for Barrett Jackson where it would likely pull bigger dollars from a tipsy bidder without nearly as much invested in the vehicle as this group of owners.

I have no idea what they will do for the arrangement at this time, but I'm sure there will be documentation to sign and some type of non-refundable on the spot deposit. Just a guess though!

DBK...you've done an amazing job!! :thumbsup I have no words. These cars represent the heart and sole of the team that worked so hard to perfect the cars that we drive now. Well done !! :usa

It's interesting that the Top Gear article said that they were going to crush the yellow car when it got back to America because it has no airbags or other safety equipment. I wonder what changed their minds? It also speaks to your power of persuasion Dave, that they have decided to sell it.

Good Job.

Today you enter to bid at many auction houses they put down a $1ok reserve on a credit card to cover the start of liquidating any damages.
Raise your hand, you entered into a contract. Were all friends,,,... but a deal is a deal.
