Texas Mile March 27-29th 2009 Registration open

Just a little advice if it's your first time down there.

Run as early as you can. As the day wears on, the temps go up but more importantly, the headwinds increase. That's what really affects your speed.

You'll usually have done your best speed of the day by noon. You can hang it up and enjoy watching everyone else the rest of the day. If you want to try to go faster, try again the next morning. Otherwise, your just beating on your car for nothing.

I'll come down to watch. Can I park in the pit area if I bring the GT?

You're welcome to park with me by my trailer.:thumbsup

I think I am going to stay in San Antonio and just drive down for the day on Friday and Saturday.

Thanks Kieth. Now I'll work on Nardo and Spirit. I'm guessing Cody will be there with his monster.

I'm coming for sure. Just not sure if the GT will be ready or I'll be running the slow zoh.

Maybe I will see some of you in Houston this weekend.

Got a email from the producer for Super Cars Exposed wanting my contact info. The Mile organizer sent them info about the GT and Gallardo.

Maybe a GT will get some more air time this year!

I will be there with my 920awhp Porsche 996 turbo to give the mile a shot.I would love to meet some of the Ford Gt guys and check out some of your rides. We will be under the Evolution Motorsports tent.Lots of luck to everyone.

I will be at the end of the paddock with the White GT and Black Gallardo. There will be a bunch of us.

We are leaving for Goliad now. See you guys down there. Maybe we can meet up for dinner on Friday nite? We are staying in Victoria.

on our way out there.

Game on.

190.6 on my first run... 'old blue' showed out pretty good... 190.3 later in the day.

Of course, TexasGT showed everybody how ridiculously fast a turbo'd GT is... almost 220 and he wasn't even trying to start it hard. He'd just roll in and let the turbo's fire it off. Awesome to watch!

189.1 sooooo close
188.3
187.6
188.5
189.4
187.9
187.3
187.6

Hennessey pulley, tune exhaust.

I think the first run in the morning I can break 190.

2.7 pulley, custom tune, custom exhaust, Accufab throttle bodies, Penske set-up (lowered 2")... last dyno it made 640s rwhp.

Temps were in the low 80s, sunny
Winds were 10-15 (cross wind to mild tail wind)
definitely favorable conditions

Cool morning air should be great for you car jbsteven. It was really nice to meet you btw. Good luck tomorrow!!! You and TexasGT.

try doing only 4 runs in a day MAX and allow for at least 2 hours of cool down between runs. when i went to the Texas Mile last year i only did 4 runs in 2 days. when in the pits park your car in the shade of your trailer and always keep your clamshell open with a bag of ice on your supercharger. tire pressures increase as the day goes on so adjust them accordingly. you will hit 190+ no sweat if you do what i am sayin. the first run you get in the AM usually has the best potential as winds are calmer and your motor is not heat soaked :thumbsup

how much has your car dyno'd?

my '01 Viper ACR dyno'd 640 rwhp with a 150 shot of nitrous which is what i was using at the Texas Mile last year. i did not spray 1st or 2nd gear but i still managed 183.6 mph with a 2500 DA and a 15 mph headwind. we had a ton of humidity that day as it was raining most of the morning.

i hope to join their 200 mph club someday when i put a Whipple on my GT :cheers

jbsteven and Fubar - what kind of tires are you guys runnin?

my car is doing 609 at the tires and I am running Hoosier R6's on all but the first 2 runs.

Bridgestone's for me... I could have launched a little better but it would not have gotten me much more than a mph or 2.
