Waiting for steering box to do the Right hand drive conversion.

I know it's done on occasion but I have a hard time fathoming the complexity of converting an automobile from left to right hand drive. What an undertaking. Please keep up the pictures and progress reports.

Yes conversion is an involved process as the GT was never intended for Right hand drive. Have to hand make a lot of parts.

I also would love to see more photos of the process. Must be a HUGE job to custom fab everything that is needed.

Were not the 28(?) or so cars built for Britain not right hand drive?

Ford never built any right hand drive FGTs.

Wow, What a job! I admire anyone who tackles that project. Wondering if the GT Guys would take on that project? Good luck.

That is got to be one hell of a job to make the car a right hand drive. Just moving the SJB box to make space for the pedals must be a PITA!

Somebody did a project like this already. It turned out really nice. Are you making everything yourself or do you have a source for some of the conversion parts?

Yes - it was "OzGT" in Australia.

There is quite a bit of discussion obout his right-hand drive GT, and quite a few pictures.

Thanks Ralphie, but the link does not come up... The hardest part of the conversion is mirror imaging the heater air cond unit,,, anyone have any damaged bits , would be very welcomed.. The console is all magnesium(don`t ask) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.. For Fubar I am making everything,, using all the original components.

For some reason, the id changed today. If it still doesn't work for you, click on "Community" and "Member List" - then find "OzGT" and look at all his posts.

Good to hear there are some people who will take on crazier projects than me. Hope you get it done under budget!

Ive just had an accident in my gt , i must say its like loosing a close human being to my heart
I hav never enjoyed one day since the accident and been head over toe ,
I wish you all the best on ur gt plz take care of it , i just hav a small question about the chassis
How dimensional is the chassis came from the actual factory ? I think its already 1mm or more different in every side or am i mistaken ? Cuz they r afraid my chassis moved but its only 1mm difference in both sides wat do u think of tht ?

It all depends on where they measure the chassis from, I did mine the old fashioned way, dropped a plumb bob from the 4 wishbone attachment points on the 4 corners and then measured diagonally, 1 mm difference, so you also measure left side and right side, should be with in 1mm also, I have only experience with one chassis so far. Ask your guys where they are measuring from, Where did you damage and how,Post some pics of the damage front and rear sections are replaceable. As far as I can make out the chassis are pretty good, within a couple of mm, the final machining of the panel fixing points aligned everything..
