Here it is:

"Only two things are infinite,
the universe and human stupidity,
and I'm not sure about the former."
- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Just a couple poll results (gee, there's no bias when you look at the major media outlets):

ABC News:
Giuliani 47%
Clinton 49%

McCain 45%
Clinton 50%

Newsweek Poll
Giuliani 48%
Clinton 47%

McCain 47%
Clinton 48%

Financial Dynamics
Giuliani 48%
Clinton 40%

McCain 48%
Clinton 39%

George Washington University
Giuliani 53%
Clinton 43%

McCain 53%
Clinton 43%

Investor's Business Daily
Giuliani 48%
Clinton 43%

McCain 48%
Clinton 41%

CNN Poll
Giuliani 46%
Clinton 48%

McCain 47%
Clinton 47%

Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll
McCain 50%
Clinton 36%

NBC News/Wall Street Journal
McCain 47%
Clinton 43%

National Public Radio
McCain 48%
Clinton 41%

Opinion Dynamics
Giuliani 48%
Clinton 39%

McCain 48%
Clinton 40%

WNBC/Marist
Giuliani 49%
Clinton 43%

McCain 49%
Clinton 43%

I could post more and more of these. While I don't think they say much about what will happen in the actual race, it just shows there is very, very little wiggle room for Clinton. The people that will vote for her will do so, and those who won't, won't. You can't get more name recognition.

Personally, I'm less enthused with McCain than I was 8 years ago and would prefer Mitt Romney, but he faces an uphill battle. It's absolutely clear that preferential treatment by the media is largely dictating who gets their foot in the door for these races more and more...

Liberalism 101 - I see what appears to me to be someone in need. So I will tax someone else to help him. I am a good person!! I care enough to take money from other people and spend it. I am a good person. I wear a "Save the Wales" T-Shirt. This shows I care. I am a good person. I wear a pink ribbon on my jacket to "raise awareness". I am a good person. Arthur Brooks just wrote an extensively researched book that revealed that most liberals, "boast of compassion for others but never actually give to them." Conservatives give far more to charity than liberals do in every income bracket and in every state. That's not an opinion Max, that's a fact. Liberalism is all about trying to feel good about YOURSELF without doing anything YOURSELF, other than saying you care and then giving away someone else's money. Our liberal boondoggle "War on Poverty" has been a complete and total failure. 8 trillion dollars of "other peoples money" spent by liberals and it hasn't done a damn thing about poverty. We could fund the Iraq war a hundred times over with money spent on transfer payments in the U.S. But no matter 'eh Mad Max, liberal spending never bankrupts our childrens future, but conservative spending that has kept you from having to jump off a burning building since 9-11 will huh. Liberal spending on failed social programs is OK because it makes stingy liberals feel good about themselves. Forget liberal failure. Forget that socialism has failed every time it's been tried for the last 3000 years without a single success. Socialism makes liberals feel good about themselves. They care. It's all about our good intentions. We're good people!! If these patsies were in charge 65 years ago we would have lost WW2 and Mad Maxes kids would be goose stepping underneith a swastika in their school yards. Don't forget global warming Max. Might require another ribbon. Perhaps another tax. Have a nice day!!

Chip

Or, more simply put (and as we ALL know, I'm a "simple" kinda guy): "Libs" are all about symbolism over substance, as Rush would say...

(Man! Ol' Max really started sumpthin', didn't he!!!!!!)

"Experts" (whomever the heck "THEY" are) say there are 40% of voters (left, right, whomever) who just WILL NOT vote for her for ANY reason ... and 15% who absolutely WILL even if she sets fire to Santa Claus. (The latter group being yur basic "move on dot org" types.) She's gunna have to "move the middle" to her camp. That's why, there for a nanosecond, you heard her saying "centerist" stuff. But NOW, with B. O. in the mix, she hasta start talkin' "lefty" again to keep her REAL base.

I about PUKED when I viewed that phoney little "fireside chat" thing she put on sittin' on that couch tryin' to look sooooooooooo sweet & harmless.Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!:mad

'Agree about BOTH McCain & Romney (...flip flop on abortion or no). McCain is a good man - HE'S JUST NOT REALLY A "CONSERVATIVE" CONSERVATIVE, DANG IT!!!!!! I want somebody like "Ronnie" (GOOD LUCK ON THAT) who'll take nuthin' from nobuddy on the "world" sceen. ( And who won't be "above" doin' away with that lil' velcro headed mutant runnin' N. Korea and that WHACK job (and the mulah pullin' is strings) runnin' things in Iran.

Actually, come to think of it ... what's Teddy Roosevelt doin' these days...?:thumbsup

Well Larry, I am proud of the regular members like you, and consider you a friend. I don't mind telling you, I have deleted a guy that posts pictures of car shows, a couple guys that sell electronic crap from overseas, one regular member that had to much to drink, and today one comment on this thread.
Maybe six or seven posts and two threads, very little deleting. Like you I like this place and don't want to see it go the way of many other forums.

I stopped my avatars because a couple of people who I admire and like honestly didn't like them. Not worth it to tick them off.

I like to debate, but will delete any personal attacks on anyone, and if a sponsor starts a thread will try to keep it on topic.

What you can get away with in NY and what you can get away with in the rest of the country are a different story. Obviously, someone that draws unanimous vitriol from the democratic base like Bush still isn't enough to mobilize them for a win. I still think H.C would get completely shut out by the right and there are a bunch of closet moderate lefties who would fill in a different circle than they publicly admit once at the polls...

Ordinarilly, I'd agree with every point made above, Dave. But, we be talkin' th' Clinton "machine" here. And, think back for a second. Just how big a margin did Bush win with in '04?????:eek

Straaaaaaaaaaange stuff happens when the "infinite stupidity" factor (referred to elsewhere in this thread) "kicks in".

For instance, a couple of years ago, did you ever think for a moment we'd see Nancy P. become (hack! choke!) "SPEAKER"?????? 'Charlie R. as Chair of "Ways & Means"?

Thank God the Democraps don't have an "override" majority and BUSH still has the veto. ... Now, if someone will just INFORM him of that fact and what to DO with it.:willy :skep

Hmmmm, me thinks I have been somewhat painted with an inaccurate brush.:frown . To address any of the personal attacks that were deleted would be pointless, but...
I am certainly not the liberal that Chip describes. My point is it seems that many thought the Iraq war could be done on the cheap. Coming from a family with a long history of military service, and having served myself, I am a firm believer in the 'Powell Doctrine" that you only go to war with such overwhelming force that victory is assured. Not the comments of Rumsfiled saying " you go to war with what you have." If you are going to commit your people to war, asking them to possibly die, then give them EVERYTHING they need.
I was not speaking of just financial assets when I said " bankrupting our children's futures". I do see unprecedented waste in the rebuilding efforts. So much so that it is appalling. I also meant the political status and or clout that our country has lost throughout the world.
I was with Bush on going into Afghanistan but I disagree that invading Iraq has made us safer here. There is just no connection between Iraq and terrorism. As I have nothing to hide I think wiretapes and surveillance of suspects in this country and anywhere else is reasonable and just. If an innocent life can be saved by using torture than do it. I believe that someone who has no regard for life forefits any consideration of their own.
I believe in the power of this country to grant anyone their dreams who work for it. Small business is the backbone of that freedom. I will admit that I fear mega corporations driving them out though(Walmart). I do not believe in a free handout because you are too lazy to make something of yourself. I live near Detroit for Godssake, don't you think I see enough of that? To write a check or wear a ribbon does not mean you have really embraced a belief, it can be just a passing statement, a fad.
I would have fought the Germans as my Grandfather did, I do not believe in endless negotiaton. And not that Chip would have known, but having lost our only child, it would not be possible for him to goosestep under a swastika.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions and I am willing to address any other questions:thumbsup

I am genuinely sorry for your loss and appreciate all those that serve. I worked for the DoD for nearly 25 years myself.

However, I still believe the downfall of this country will be its liberalism ranging from gay marriages, welfare, illegal immigration, minimum wage mandate etc.

God bless the US!

The problem is that the liberal left and, more specifically in my mind, the liberal left media, have made it impossible to effectively fight a war in this way. We breath the wrong way in battle and it's cable news network fodder to incite riots worldwide for weeks. Intelligent people agree, the only way to win a full-scale war is overwhelming, unending, and complete destructive force. You will never win a war waging a PR friendly battle, and that's what we mandate our soldiers do.

Our left fails to be prepared to fight all wars of this nature in perpuity if you are afraid to scorch the earth. But it's simply not arguable that if we used the horrible violence required for complete and total victory, we would be even further demonized...

Over 3 million popular votes! Too bad we don't elect based on cumulative states because we'd never lose :lol

The fact that the quack from Kalifornia is speaker is a byproduct of an unpopular war and the Democrats running a ton of moderates in order to elect radical leadership. People are too stupid to figure that out.

I'm just not worried about Billary. I think McCain or Giuliani would crush her and I have faith in my people. Michigan may even turn red again after the absolute beating this state is going to take under the Democratically led Congress....

Agreed.

If CNN were on Omaha beach during D-day, Eisenhower would have been fired for losing so many fine men in such a short period of time and never would have been president.

I can't stay away from this thread.

DBK is right on about winning a war.
We are in a new age, media has it's own agenda, live reports from the battlefield, soldiers have cell phone cameras that can blast a picture live all over the world. War is war, ugly, brutal and always takes huge collateral damage of women, children and noncombatants. Uncivil acts take place, that is why the Turkish soldier is the most feared fighter in the world, and the most successful. Sorry, but you can't fight these battles from battleships, with missiles, ground action is mandatory, there will be losses on both sides.

Many Americans need to revisit the unedited television footage of people jumping out of the World Trade Center windows, we lost 3000+ souls in our halo city.
