These crooks are really stupid criminals. (Maybe not as dumb as the people that actually fall for them though.)

Exactly! And the buyer may have fallen for a similar scam before - his feedback includes this comment:
"fatsca tried to scam me out of $16,000 on motorcycle"
One would pay about $90 for the listing plus a percentage of the final sale price to E-Bay. Note that the auction was ended early. Also note that if this was Allan Jackson's car, it was raffled off, and won by someone. Therefore it is conceivable that this car was sold by the raffle winner for a deeply disounted price, against which no investment (other than a $100 raffle ticket) was made.
