Saw the SLS at Frank Lloyd Wright M-B showroom on Park Avenue.

In person car is on a whole new level.

Fenders have crease that goes entire length of car and tail (like '60s F GTO or '50s F Testarossa)

F1 style triangle brake light; deep inlet vents, huge exhaust pipes, fit-finish is like swiss watch. Under hood AMG engine is massive and nicely configured. Interior is like G4.

At $185K, this car blows away alot of the competition in style and substance.

Once doors open...charisma launches 360 degrees and all stop in awe.

Mt colleague has one of these, look fat on the front and short butt on the back. Good for Mercedes owners.

I think it might look best as a convertible. :confused

I like the long nose proportions.

Maybe true....

25yrs from now it will be worth more than 95% of exotics sold today

Gullwing doors (not Scissor) are iconic and seldom produced by brands with lineage; this will have a 400/yr run til 2014... not muchdifferent from 1950s 300 SL production of 1400

No Argument there.

saw pictures of the new "SL" in the mags and it has a lot of the same design cues. Looks good too.

The GT would look awesome in Gullwing doors.

I've had some time behind the wheel of the SLS and found the clutch difficult to deal with - which was my driver problem, not the Mercs. Having had years of driving the Aston Vanquish, I am programmed to change gear on a balanced throttle - the SLS doesn't like that sort of behaviour. It kangaroos if you try it. It needs to be pushed on - and then drives perfectly.

It feels longer than the Titanic and makes a sound like a WWII fighter plane - a real angry growl that would be hard to tire of.

It was a nice experience to drive, but ultimately it left me a bit cold, it's really a car for the long journey, a grand tourer. It would demolish the mileage of any road trip with consummate ease. It would be on my list, but not in the top slot.

I drove one as well and was very impressed. Excellent exhaust note. Would make a fabulous GT car.

Yes, it seemed to be. However I would stress that this was my driver error rather than the car. I seem programmed to lift slightly with a paddle shift or change on a balanced throttle - the SLS does not respond to this level of mechanical sympathy!

I was never ill in the Vanquish! It was a joy to drive. However it was a flawed car in some respects.

The vanquish had an epic front

Loved it

Back was a bit off scale, with extended overhang

how many will be produced? and will they be worth half as much in three year, and 20% of their original value in 6-7 years? like almost every other merc!
