As a note of Interest HRE will be introducing a line of CF wheels very soon. They use the Dymag barrels but thier own hubs.. They will have some nice hub options. The Dymags are limited to the 9 spoke model,,
doh :thumbsup

I haven't seen any pictures of HRE spokes that looked like this. So this news is a plus for those wanting CF rims.

Also read that Dymag is now using a different alloy for the spokes to fix the problem.

^^^ ouch. Yeah, that's from a GT2 and kerbs. He was hitting he kerbs hard because the CF can take it. Guess the center was a different story. I'm told he had a crack in one of the wheels but ran it anyway, and still used the kerbs. Scary, but he got away with it. Yes, the new Dymags come with a compound they call Magnalium. All the strength of aluminum alloy with the weight saving of Magnesium. I'm told under 14 lbs front and under 18 lbs rear in GT sizing.

I doubt the HRE's will be much heavier, but they will have the solid advantage of far more rim options!!!

As an example of light, when I was picking mine, the REARS were super easy to pick up with ONE hand, like a bicycle wheel!!! They were significantly lighter than the 10 spoke forged BBS which previously felt unbelievably light to me. :thumbsup

If the HREs are that light, I might have to get a set. Hard to justify a set otherwise at 11grand a pop.

?!

That new 'quick-disconnect' system should make changing rims and tires a breeze at the track!

I'm just getting stock sizes, 18's and 19's, can't run 20's around here, our potholes are swimming pool sized.:frown 20's would look great though.

Yep. I heard that too from the HRE rep. The pure magnesium is just to hard and brittle . Dymag is going to a magnesium and Aluminum mix. HRE will use machined Alum for their hubs.

CC Wheels

I posted this a long time ago on another of the many wheel threads. These are CC Wheels aka CCWs. These are the C14s - their lightest wheels. Single piece forged 6061-T6 aluminum - these are very very strong! 10x18" fronts 41 lbs (OEM 45 lbs) & 11.5x18" rears 44 lbs (OEM 61 lbs). The weights are from my wife's very accurate bathroom scale. The outside diameter of the rears with tires are 0.5" less than OEM: 28.0" vs 28.5". I'm running Goodyear G-19 radial slicks 25.5x10.5-18 & 28.0x12.5-18. CC Wheel will be making a 19" rear C14 later this year I am told by the owner John. He has other style wheels in 19" for the GT now though. http://www.ccwheel.com I have these for use on the track.

OCPETE,

WOW - that looks great. You hardly notice that it's the standard wheel.
Could you post some pics that shows the whole car??

Thanks
