Guys...the word that I have received is that there will not be any additional discount past the 10%. I'm sorry that's the only news I can give you. Anyone with additional questions can PM me. Thank you.

Has anyone received the GT wall model? Mine came today by FedEx. It was badly damaged in Shipping. I think Saleen did an inadequate job of packaging, actually an inexcusable job of packaging.:thumbsdow FedEx didn't help but it needed to be packed such that it can withstand falling off the back of a truck, becuase it is likely that it will, and in this case, did. I will call them tomorrow and let them know that they need to do something different if there is any hope of them arriving undamaged.

Oh man! I knew that would happen. I ship large fragile items everyday. FedEx and UPS are very hard on the packages, and you need to built-proof it. If it was just wrapped in foam and boxed, it will get there F***ed up!
If they need some tips in packaging, have them contact me and I can tell them how to package them.

Craig,
Getting FedEx to pay a claim is damn near impossible. They will tell you that it was not packaged correctly and that you need to take it up with the shipper. I would contact Saleen to get a replacement. Don't let them give you the "file a claim with FedEx" line because you will be waiting in that line for months. I see you are in SoCal, so why not have Saleen ship to their OC location and pick it up.

yea, i got mine
the 1/4 panel is cracked, the mirror is bruised(badly), the rear tire is all marked up and bent.
the cover was off in the fed-ex truck, the carton was crushed and ripped in many places and there was not one stitch of packing material.
i took a dozen pictures and sent them to mike zilinski and kyle.
they called me back and said they would let me know the outcome 2morrow.
i'm so angry about this. there is no excuse for this.
here are some pictures, i will let you all know the outcome !!!

That looks just like mine:thumbsdow. Although the shipping braces that were attached to the car were broken off and lying on top of the car with the screws facing down. It was also rotated in the box, and the box was fully tapped taped. I suspect that it failed in shipping and FedEx repackaged it and added the tape. I will file a claim with FedEx, but I have to agree that the packaging was completely, 100% inadequate. Every single one is guaranteed to be damaged and FedEx will not pay. This is going to be a royal headache.

Wow!:eek
That is HORRIBLE!! They just boxed it. I guess they are just used to packaging metal parts or something. Obviously that would be damaged.
Here is the way they should package them.

First, use 1/8" sheet foam, and wrap the entire unit. Then use a 1" EPS foam to completely protect it on all sides. Then you carton it. After it is boxed, cover the entire box with 1/8" hardboard. This is help keep things from getting through the box and damaging it.
After this is done, you edge protect the entire thing with V-board. You then band it so it does not come apart and the shippers have something to grab onto. It is a little costly, and time comsuming, but is that more costly than replacing hundreds of these units?

Here is what it should have looked like.

i had the fed-ex driver document the damage in his hand held computer while i stood there-i would not sign for it until he did so
i asked about the insuance, and he said, fed-ex will never pay insurance on this, simply because of the packaging(or lack there of).
i explained this to mike zilinski and he said he would take care of it, and let me know the outcome tomorrow.
i think due to the packaging, saleen is going to be out alot of money on this venture.
amd ps--from the horses mouth--i ship hundreds of jeep parts per week, mostly ups. on one and only one occassion, they damaged one of my shipments. i had a ups manager come to my business to inspect the damaged package--from her mouth--"i should have never put on a fragile sign, it is a target for upset ups loading dock workers"
well let me go--this should be interesting !!!
i will keep you up-dated

I promise you one of the big wigs at Saleen is gonna storm back to his shipping dept and do the funky chicken on the noggin of the guy who shipped these and ask him WHY!!!!???????!!!!!, And the answer will be "this is the way we always ship things".
It is sooooo hard to get a trained employee to "hit the curve ball" when thrown at him.
What a waist of materials and time.

Dave-

Maybe a call to Saleen from our forum leader is in order. Tell them not to ship another one until they get packaging figured out. Looks like they are 0 for 3 at this point.

just a heads up
when i spoke to mike zilinski, he did indicate to me that no more would be shipped until he can figure out a better wrapping system.(and that was with only my complaint)
after he saw the pictures i sent him, he was very upset with his
i would hate to be him in the morning when all the other complaints come in.
its a shame--mike is really good people !!!
heads are going to roll over this mess !!!!

Mike IS a great guy. He's been extremely high on the list of friends to owners of the GT from the start. He personally would never do anything knowingly that would create this situation.

I will talk to him tomorrow, and make sure this gets rectified.

this is how Saleen packages a fragile collector's item?

Rocman says <<If it was just wrapped in foam and boxed, it will get there F***ed up!>>

It wasn't even wrapped in foam or styrofoam peanuts or bubblewrap at all- it was just sent mounted to some wood and thrown into a cardboard box!!!!

Mine came today too- the box is torn apart, the passenger side mirror was poking through the cardboard box and, of course, the paint was all scraped off. The cardboard box rubbed the black paint off both tires. If they had just used a little bubblewrap, it might have had at least a small chance of arriving more or less intact....I am sure that absolutely all of them are going to arrive badly damaged.

This is really a shame after waiting so long for them to arrive. They look well-made- why would Saleen so carelessly let them all get wrecked like this?

I hope they replace them without too much hassle, and send out the replacements quickly.

I just dropped mine off at the Saleen store in Irvine. They won't be handing the problem, it was just easier for me to drop it off there and let them send it back to Troy. I don't have time to mess with it, and since it came so poorly packed, I don't want to get accused of my packing and shipping as being part of the problem.

This mess on top of Saleen initially tossing out a price of $750 and then raising it to a mere 10% off is really annoying. Maybe we should all cancel our orders, and make them give us a better deal, or forget it. I wasted over 2 hours today loading it in my van, unpacking it carefully, re-loading it back into my van, and driving 30 miles to return it. Not fun. :ack

The way I would handle it if I was Saleen is to have the customers that have damages contact them, possibly email photos of the damage, and then issue call tags to have the shippers pick up so it does not further inconvenience the customer. This is what I do when I have any damages to shipments, and this is a rare thing for me since I go overboard on packaging.

Dave,
Seriously, you can have them call me and I can let them know what they need to do and what they need to use for packaging. They would reduce the claims from 100% down to less than a half of a percent. That is how proven my packaging methods are.
I would be willing to take time out of my day to ensure that my brothers here get their items in one peace.

Mine was damaged too!

Mine is damaged as well

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very poor packaging job by Saleen.......plus I was told last Friday delivery when they called me on last Wed......Did not come on Friday (wife home all day to sign for it)., nor Saturday, nor Monday (which I took off work to be home to sign......then Kyle tells me that it was shiipped 5-day FedEx to save money.....shoudn't he have said this on that prev Wed when he called? Not a happy camper....expected WAY MORE from Saleen. When you try and call them in Michigan all you get is voice mail.....unbelievable customer service. They do call you back, but can't I talk to a real person when I call? I want fast answers.......not a pleasant experience as I had anticipated. Forget replacement, I want damage compensation. I'm not going through that waniting around to sign again.....especially when I was told when it would be there. Chris
