Lost for words.......

Very sorry you lost your car - but glad all the family were unharmed.

It would be highly unusual for a cold car to self combust - was it on the trickle charge at the time?

Hmmm, Not much one can say when we see one of our gals completely gone beyond repair. As everyone said, there are other GTs but only one of you. Glad to hear that you and your family are unharmed. Let us know the outcome. :frown

Most PCBs are UL94 V0 or V1 fire rated which makes them very unlikely the cause of your fire. Same reason you almost never hear of computers burning due to the motherboard catching fire (usually batteries on laptops are the cause).

This is very, very sad news. To the best of my knowledge, only one GT in Texas went up in flames, but not burned to this extent. There were some pictures posted here of a tungsten on the side of the rode.

Thought it was Arizonia after somebody stole it and abandoned it :confused

Oz, glad you and the family are OK.

To JuanCooldude's point the PCB's and ECU computer are inherently designed to minimize the chance of a DC "fire"... 000's of million of cars have them......

If at all possible try to salvage the gull wing door hinges. From looks off the fire they may have melted.

And work on Shelby to get you a great deal on a black car

That is just the worst sight.

As has been shared before, I'm very happy that you and yours are fine.

When the dust settles, I guess you will be working on a pretty sweet Christmas present that will prove to be even better this time around. Let us know how we can help.

I am at a loss for words; this has to be one of the worst situations a true car lover could experience.

A wreck is bad enough, but this is just beyond my ability to grasp.

As others have said, so glad you and yours are all OK, that is the most important thing to remember in times like this.

Best of luck in coming to a resolution, and finding another GT to replace your exquisite example of the Ford GT.

I'm totally gutted and at a lost for words.... At least no one was hurt. Truly sorry to hear. You'll be able to replace the GT with insurance proceeds.

Unbelievable! I am so sorry for you. Luckily it was just 'stuff'. Stuff that can be replaced.

I hope you weren't home at the time, I can't imagine the horror you would have felt if you were there to witness the flames!

I have looked at this post several times with loss of words to say. I suppose I can say I wanted to send my condolences, and am glad no one was injured.

Sorry to hear of your loss. As everyone has said, that no one was hurt is the most inportant thing. I live in Malibu, CA and last year around this time I lost a house with the following vehicles burned to total losses: 66 Shelby GT350H, 66 327/350 Corvette Stingray, 55 3100 Chevrolet Truck, Harley-Davidson Fatboy and a custom Jeep. Luckily for me, my 2 GT's were at my other house. I was able to get my Bentley (now in retrospect I wish I had taken the Shelby) and the kids photos and artwork out. One year later all of the vehicles have been replaced and I am a whole lot clearer of what is truly valuable, my family. Hang in there.
