I am so sad to read this. I am finalizing my packing as I prepare to leave for NZ. I thought I'd jump back on for one last minute before I took off to the airport.

I am glad to hear that your family is fine, I hope for a quick turn around time on this and hope to see you back in a GT soon. Once you get your new gal from Shelby have them ship it up to us before sending it to NZ...We'll give her the same treatment as this car and get that grin back on your face in no time! I hope you will be using another car on the rally??? Maybe???

We all feel your pain because most of us realize it could have been our GT. IMO some of the worst things occur for the best reasons...maybe you GT was destined to be destroyed and the fire was the work of someone above to keep you out of harms way.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and support. Everything can and will be replaced. Jrader1, I now know in a small way how you must have felt and thank you for showing me that all can be made better.
Kyle, thanks for your offer, it shows what great people you and your dad are!
Thanks to all for the technical comments too, a very big help at this point.
The investigators are still sifting for clues and I'll post their findings.
Thanks again,
John

Thanks for that - I missed the update....

That's a failure in the garage circuitry rather than the GT's?

It's at times like this that the statement, 'it's just a car' becomes so poignant. I'm very sorry for your loss but happy that no one was injured.
