Rest in Peace Ray Hofman. A truly genuine great car guy, all around great person, and caring family man. It was our pleasure to be a small part of your exciting life. Thoughts and prayers to Janna, the 4 boys and the rest of Ray’s family.
We looked forward to reading or hearing about Ray's latest adventures. We will forever feel proud to be "associated by car" with Mr. Ray Hofman. Thank you all for posting your memories. It is with heavy hearts we must say goodbye. RIP Ray. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Just too sad. I'm sad beyond belief. When I first met Ray years ago I kept calling him Roy. He smiled at me kind of funny but never corrected me. Eventually I learned it was Ray & not Roy. He was a true gentleman & always very kind to me in our conversations. I will miss him.
Ray took possession of the car and brought it to R5 at VIR for all to see. He let Thomas Mutsch run the car at an unbelievable pace on a dreary rain-soaked day, producing enormous rooster tails while we all watched in awe.
I didn't know Ray, but as Dave pointed out, he is responsible for a few brief very special moments on a race track I will never forget. I'm thankful to him for that.
The photos with his children...sad doesn't describe. May their anguish pass soon.
In the greater sense I suppose it's trivial, but this forum has kept Bony alive.... I expect Ray will live on as well.
RIP Ray and condolences to wife and kids. Ray appears to have lived life to the fullest. This forum is a class act for recognizing the loss of a fellow FGT owner.
We (DBK and I) are in Midland getting ready for a dinner tonight in honor of Ray Hofman. In true Hofman style! Man I am gonna miss this guy. He is much larger than life here in his home town, even more than he was on the net...
Thank you donnymac for putting Shelby and I up at his home in Midland. It was good to see Chip and Charley, Donny, Alex from SP-Engineering, Mitch Clark, Tom and Shauna Mabey and others there for Ray and the family.
It's hard to imagine he's gone. I'm very thankful I got to visit Ray's home one more time and spend some time with Janna and their family. Janna really is showing incredible strength. There's really not much else I can say.
The world is a duller place without Ray. Not many people out there that push the limits like he did and always looking for a way to improve upon things. Every part of Rays life was over the top..., from his cars to his planes to his back yard (kids play area was like Disney land), to his business. Everything first class all the way. I'm really gonna miss you Bud...:frown
I haven't been that active as of late and just saw this...terrible news. When I first got my GT we chatted quite often about various cars and about his business. Ray was a class act and will be missed. RIP
