All what I know the official start of the Rally is always in Scottsdale. The drive from Scottsdale to Vegas is a beauty, have done it many time. Painted canyons. Chip and Tim have many connections with AHP (I pray)!

I e-mailed some of our Mark IV members the other day to get feedback on a Rally III idea. Based on the responses, I think we have a location.

The other day I talked to a forum member who has long been friends with Carroll Shelby. During a recent conversation, Carroll inquired how the group was and what had been going on in the community. He was very happy to be a part of Rally II in Newport Beach. After discussion, Carroll offered that if we ever ran an event in Las Vegas, he'd throw us a heck of a party at SAI.

There had been a lot of discussion about moving Rally III eastward after doing Newport Beach in 07. While I agree with this sentiment, given the unique opportunity available I think it is a no brainer to seize the day and take the chance to bring our Ford GT's to Las Vegas and Shelby Automotive in 2008. Texas, Florida, etc, will always be there. So will Las Vegas, but not with Carroll at the helm. Add in the weather, the variety of good local roads to travel, and this looks like another killer Ford GT Forum event.

I'm going to LV for Carroll's 85th(!) Birthday Bash on January 11th to meet with Amy Boylan and discuss planning for an event at their facility. That week, we should have dates and details of Ford GT Rally III - Las Vegas.

Gentlemen,

For those who did not make it to last year's Scottsdale "Rally to the Rally", we had a great time and we're going to do it again before Rally III. Last year, in addition to a great dinner and a trip to Penske's Museum, we had a caravan of 25 Ford GT's for our high-speed final assault on Rally II headquarters in California. The GT guys set up shop in Larry's garage for early arrivals who wanted to have some work done prior to getting to California.

This year will be even better. Tim Cantwell is hosting a function at his lovely new home, the Marriott Old Town Inn Suites will again be providing killer room rates and secure private underground parking, we're going to invite the GT Guys set up shop again, plus a few special surprises. Our goal this year is 40 GT's for what should be a most memorable drive from Scottsdale to Las Vegas.

As soon as rally dates are set I will post more information.

Atomic, they also will be running the spring version next month. If you have never run before, you should sign up and meet us there and run the event. That way, in September, you will have one under your belt and be "experienced".

It is great fun. I will be there with the fasted color GT (red, of course) and would love to see more GT's in the field. For So. Cal. guys, it is close and is worth the time and travel.

Dave should be getting with us shortly. He will typically put us all in one hotel with a good pre-negotiated rate, hoses/water to wash cars and concealed /guarded parking.
The accomodations in Dearborn (Rally I) and Newport Beach (Rally II) were first class. The pre-rally at Scottsdale (Rally II) in the Marriot OldTown with Chip and the Phoenix guys was superb also.

Would love to attend. I have scoured the posts in this thread, but there are a lot and I have not seen a set of dates. Are the dates set and I just missed it? I have a condo at Lake Las Vegas, so I am in Vegas a couple of times a month. I have not seen a final hotel destination, but the Ritz Carlton and two other hotels are on the lake and it is always a little cooler at the lake. Nice covered parking and not too busy that time of year. Very scenic and a short drive to the strip. Anyway any info would be greatly appreciated if it is still possible to join in the rally.
