I was able to book the SMI for 9/2 today.

I booked 9/2 today as well, since it appears this will be a one day drive.

I followed suit and booked the room for 9/2 just now. Stoked to meet all of you.

Hey Kendall
Any update on the caravan timeline? I'll be flying back from a family vacation that Sunday night, so unfortunately, I won't be able to make the caravan out Monday morning. But I still hope to meet you guys somewhere along the way on the Central Coast.

Bonehead - drive the 175 miles to Sac & join us for the drive from Sac to Sonoma! A little over 60 miles by freeway or we can go along Lake Berryessa for some twisty & scenic road fun!

I might do that! When are you leaving? Still not sure when I'm returning from my family vacation, so timing-wise, it may not work out:(

Oh man. I booked a room starting that Monday (9/2). Wanted to get there a day early and possibly join the SoCal caravan up north.

It's a democracy! I guess my vote would be to make it a 1-day drive. Early departure (plan on spending the night very near our starting point and fuel up the evening before).

If a majority would prefer to depart a day earlier (9/1), then we could make that work too. Opinions welcome!

Since I am just along for the ride and am not putting any effort into this, I am happy to go along with the majority.

Kendall, I am also planning on doing the post-Rally Rally through the Sierras. If the few extra days causes a problem with trailer parking, please let me know.

Finally, I believe DBK mentioned the possibility of a luggage truck. If that does not happen, need to know by mid-August to have time to UPS a box to the hotel.

I'm excited! :)

I vote for a 2-day drive but either way is fine with me.

I booked an extra night (9/2) so my vote would be a 1-day drive arriving that evening. Hope you and yours are doing well Kendall.

I’m confused. I thought that departing at 7:00AM on Monday, Sep. 2 and arriving in time for cocktails at 7:00PM on Tuesday is a two-day trip.

As I now understand the plan, we will leave SoCal, drive to Sonoma and check in at the Fairmont on Monday but have nothing planned until cocktails on Tuesday. Are there some activities on Tuesday?

I don't believe there is anything planned until Tuesday evening. If I don't make either the SoCal or Sac-town caravans, I plan on taking a leisurely drive up to Sonoma myself and firmly planting my posterior at the bar for the evening:)

It's probably me that is confused HiloDave. This will be my first Rally so I'm bound to get just about everything wrong. I do have 9/2 booked for the night but if the decision of the group is to drive up on 9/3 I'm sure I can adjust my reservation.

Well I'm happy to do either. Monday with an overnighter or Tuesday and a one day blast.
We are already going to be blocking out the week, but it may be challenging to find a hotel for us all on Monday night Labor Day??

Some forum members have done it but it's not easy - to spend a night sleeping in the GT.

Seriously? I've slept in the back of my Cayenne during a trip to Old Mojave Road, and just got back today from an overnighter in the sailor bunks of the U.S.S. Midway with my son. I thought those were cramped quarters. But sleeping in the GT??? That would be a challenge.

You and your son have me beat Randy. There's no way I could sleep in those. Claustrophobia. I have a hard time with elevators and busy amusement parks let alone sleeping coffins.

Randy - that's luxurious, compared to the WWII fleet submarines!
