Our companyDevonMotorworks bids on Viper

I think they are crazy if the car company forgets that the fantasy or "drool" factor exists.

I'd be interested in results of studies of Halo Car benefits.

Good supporting writeup in the AutoWeek I received today - Chrysler's logic makes no sense.

Ralphie,

Do you know if there is an on-line link to the article?

thanks for the feedback from all of you. I feel it is an even more simple answer.
Fiat found out that at least one person / Company (Devon Motorworks) had an interest in writing. Fiat paid nothing for Chrysler and could request ''any and all'' or ''nothing at all'' be put into the 'good asset' vs 'bad assest' category. If it is in the 'good asset bin', Fiat gets it at closing. If it would have remained in the 'bad asset bin' at closing they would get none of it..

So the safe bet would be.. "lets slide it over to the 'good asset bin'' and then we have full control of whatever we want to do with it next week or next year.'' I think this is Sergio's thinking.

I couldn't find it in a search on AutoWeek - perhaps it's too new. It's on page 8 of the June 15, 2009 issue and titled "A Snake in the Hand." I would think it should show up soon on the web site.

Fiat may just kill Viper as to not compete with the current brands, rather than sell it for 5.5 mil. to a potential competitor. I think another example of how the Chrysler bond holders got the shaft!

Andy, Knowing a little of your back ground (A real car guy who worked his way up through the manufacturing) I would say the best chance for any purchase would be best if a guy like you was on the team and in a decision makers position.

I support your move if and ever this were to happen.:thumbsup

Tom - thanks for the nice words and vote of confidence. As VP of Product Development for DevonMotorWorks, working directly for Scott, I would have been 'living down at Connor Avenue to make this work".
Who knows what will happen now.

Keep us posted Andy. I own three Vipers, and I am always interested in their future "value" and availability.

Tim - I will keep you posted.. All has gone quiet on Viper...for now.
We were at willow springs last week testing our DevonGTX --it is progressing nicely. We will unveil the car at Pebble Beach on the 18th green on August 15/16. Do you attend Pebble?

Andy, after reading your bio on the website, WHERE CAN I GET A LEFT HEADLIGHT FOR MY GT?

I realize this will not be the answer that you want, but just like you, I would go to my dealer first.
But, I am not sure of the issue. Is it that none are available..? Let me know as I would certainly try to help you.

I've been to the dealer (who is a good friend). They check weekly. I called the GT hotline two months ago and no effect. Maybe you have contacts? Left headlights are supposedly listed as NLA. Mine is to be replaced under warranty for fogging. Thanks Frank

Frank the rumors must be true that the vendor that made the headlights are NLIB. It could take awhile for Ford to find a new vendor. Unfortunately, IMHO, given the current business conditions, it isn't on the high priority list.

I will check.

Thanks Andy. Didn't mean to hijack this thread.

No problem - I will look into the headlights..
We were notified early today that The new Chrysler Group LLC is going to keep Viper and therefore they will not be continuing their talks with us...

Sorry to hear that. Maybe in some ways it's for the best seeing how much the cost is to pass all the fed. regulations on new vehicles is very prohibitive of privately owned companies. Doesn't mean you can't still work some magic in there... ?

Not a bad outcome...Having Chrysler Group LLC / Fiat keep Viper and improve it... I was advised they are planning for the 2011 and the FMVSS requirements going forward... it is probably one of the better possible outcomes. I for one would have hated to see the brand just 'die' and no more Vipers built.
It is just too bad that we could not have found a way to continue the FordGT in similar fashion...!!??

Andy, you should continue the Ford GT for us!
