No way are the Pirelli P-Zeroes as sticky as the Hoosiers... Ed

Ed, I think he meant the Pirelli Corsa System which are they "off road" DOT track tire. These tires came stock on some production cars like the 360 Challenge. They are simliar to the Pirelli Corsa (not system) but have more tread grooves. I think these tire would be a great sticky tire for the street and track for those that are concerned about water on the street, but at a cost! These cost much more than the Hoosiers! For the ultimate performance solely on the track Hoosiers are the way to go. For both street and track use where price is not a issue the Corsa would be great.

Ok my Corsa went on today... First major observation is I'm really disappoint in the rear bulging, not aesthetically pleasing one bit. Also, I baffled by the stretched nature of the fronts, looks very odd have different scenarios at each end. Frankly, I really wish I'd have asked to see some pics of the Corsas on a car first before jumping. In all I know think I'll still end up pursuing different rims and leave the stocks for track use..:frown

In the grip stakes they already feel better straight away, not even broken in or warmed:thumbsup. The tire place took the liberty of filling them with nitrogen @ 40psi. I meant to research the ideal street pressure here but didn't get around to it beforehand.

What tire size did you use on the fronts? Is the bulge you speak of is in the rear and would using a wider rim on the rear help?

Also can you post pictures of the tires on the car?

I used exactly the same fronts as used by John B: 235/40-18. Yes the rear, hence my description of rear bulge. Sure wider rims would help, but I might as well go to a larger aftermarket combination while I'm at it ie 20's + 19's.

It's going to take me a while to take a photo, the car covers gone on today as I have a really busy few weeks (read month) coming up with little driving ops. I have both lights out in garage at the moment so until I get a chance to replace the tubes I can't even take a quick photo there. I'd suggest John B should be better placed to take a photo sooner perhaps..

I've decided that I'm going to go ahead with my original thinking and get a set of the HRE 844R wheels that very closely resemble the stock BBS but come in 20/19. I'll leave aside the factories with the Corsa for track use - I really hate the look they've created that much now with the rear wheel overhang and front tire stretch.

what tires are you planning on running with the 19/20?

I have been wanting aftermarket wheels for a year but finally ordered them this week after seeing the Heffner turbo car run 9s on 19/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 2s.

i went with 265/30/19 and 335/30/20 PS2s

Only seen the photos of the HRE's and they don't quote what rubber they're using. I'm thinking PS2 as well. I haven't seen the size quoted here either on the HRE's but I know the car used on HRE's site is a member here and seen a thread on it also not quote exact sizing.

May I ask why? Have the stock brakes ever disappointed you in any way? Of course if we could get ceramic rotors and keep the wheels clean that would be a big plus.

Hell NO! Love the stock brakes, but stopping from 200mph (on a track of course) you can save 5" with ceramic! Clear enough for you?:lol:lol:lol:lol
It's only $10K! How many shares of Ford will that buy today?:banana:lol:rofl:lol:banana

What is the scoop on the ceramic brake? The thread seemed to have die. I assume that they are not going to be made. As for the Ford stock 10K will buy more shares next quarter than this one.

OzGT nice car and I like the color:biggrin, Ive been thinking about wheels for a while now and have been thinking along the same lines, a wheel that looks like the bbs factory wheels, but slightly different, in size and finish. I was looking at the Iforged seneka series, I will be looking at the 844r but do post a pic when you get them. I really dislike looking and shoping for wheels, you never know what its going to look like until they are on the car, so its a bit of a gamble, especialy since the wheels could cost upwards of 7 to 10 thousand a set.

Right back at you re the color, great minds as they say eh:cheers!

I agree on wheels, I have been eying different options over the past year before my car was ready. The HRE really only sunk in when I looked at them yesterday, even though I've looked at them before. Thing I really like is keeping the OEM BBS look going. I don't mind changing the look in some cases but I'm really a fan of the BBS look on the GT. Funnily enough both my Cobra and Lightning have larger aftermarket copies of the the factory wheels, maybe it's a Ford thing! I've always had non factory looking aftermarket wheels on the BMWs I've owned.

Ok well I'm being quoted the following as the same as the HRE 844Rs as seen on the HRE website on the blue GT:

HRE 844R – (three piece – forged alloy)
Recommended Wheel Sizes;
19x10 – Front
20x11.5 – Rear

Recommended Tyre Sizes;
275/35R19 – Front
315/35R20 – Rear
This rear size tyre is our only option in 20”.
Pirelli P-Zero “Rosso” tyres are the only tyres I can find with matching tread patterns front & rear.
However I will keep looking for Michelin option.

This is plainly different from the PS2's quoted here. I must say it worries me when I read people quoting one size combination here only to get feedback from HRE that's different.

I'm running 275/35ZR19's on the front and 335/30ZR20's and the back. Love the Pilot Sports 2's.

Bony, what are your wheel specs again? I want to reply to the HRE distrib and let him know that there is a more optimum sizing that suits the HRE combo. Mind you it is up to me if I want to buy tires separately as well rather than together.

I think the HRE guy was making a recommendation for tire sizes similar to the stock diameters. Bony's rear tire is about 1" smaller in diameter than stock. It is a personal preference.
