Just took delivery last week of the 05 4 option GT with 9k mi. Rich Brooks has already picked it up and will begin the phase 1 repairs. Considering doing a full carbon body with OEM body lines as well. I am pretty exited about this build!
I see you are from Carlsbad; I grew up in San Diego and graduated from Mt. Carmel HS.Amazing story. Pretty exciting. Keep us posted on the progress and your friend.
Thanks, this will be a long road but I will definitely be documenting this repair and every step of the project as it unfolds!Welcome! Cool story, and it's in excellent hands Looking forward to updates and seeing it on the road and at the next Rally.
Almost 4 months on a boat to NY portThat is a great story. I look forward to your subsequent posts on it's rehabilitation.
How did you get the car back to the states? Ship or air?
.
All the exposed aluminum has a salt/corrosive coating from being on the boat. Easy clean up but LOTS of clean up.Damn....
Which is why racing the salt flats is not advisedIn case you don't already know, salt corrodes aluminum into dust very quickly.

Pete,It was not inside a container? In case you don't already know, salt corrodes aluminum into dust very quickly. Make sure you REALLY clean out all the salt, then apply anticorrosion coatings to the back sides and to all enclosed panels. Rich should know the best approach.
