I guess, but beautiful designs are timeless. The new Miata is a beautiful design for what is basically an economy car. The Ford Fusion is a great design and it's a value/volume sedan. I think the problem is with low-talent designers. GM has been a design wasteland for a long time now.

As you know, the new Mazda has more than solid styling going for it. Probably the only new chassis to come to market that is considerably less in mass than its predecessor. Everything else seems to gain weight in spite of weight targets. Hats off to Mazda for that car!

The new Fiat 124 version is what the Miata should have looked like

The abarth will be collectible

99% of designers are still doing the 90s jellybean / bar-of-soap Style

Flat surfaces & creases look timeless; only $100-K cars have them

Lots of flat surfaces and creases. Under $100k. Timeless?

For a bang for your buck factor, GM wins (Look at what you get with the ZL1 Camaro under $65K)

Corvette is the exception ! (Nice Abarth “getting air” too)

I think the vast majority of today’s designs are isntantly dated

The last decade of “design innovations”:

-Bangle-butt
-winglet
-ovary-tail light (from 458 to Veloster)
-headLight eye brow (McLaren)
-Angry Turtles exotics (R8, Hurrucan, pagani, etc)
-Chain saw exhaust: M, AMG, R, Infiniti

The 2010s will be remembered for stained alcantara, drone-weary; depreciating dentist cars

Like 2-3 of today’s exotic cars will be worth more than a future new ZO6

Unfortunately, there are few beautifully designed cars today. The GT is a stunner. Jag and Aston Martin (DB 11!) have some beautiful cars, but for the most part cars are no-to-low effort designs.

BMW new flagship coupe (8series) and Volvo Polestar Coupe are some of the innovators

Long hood, short deck, hour glass, haunches and crisp creases.

I like the Volvo. The BMW? Nope.

Because there are fewer and fewer of us who care. :frown

That is a very nice looking BMW. Big, pillarless coupes are a sight.

Description of the new Corvette sounds like they are talking about the GT

Dual Clutch Automatic (8 sp)
Active aero front and rear.
More

However,
Aluminum, not Carbon. On the heavy side (3500lbs). V8 powered. Nothing revolutionary but it will be a pretty nice car.

Badly written article. Looks like a Ferrari.

If that article were correct and future models would have a FPC V8 with close to 9000 rpm redline, then why would anyone buy first year with a version of the current C7 engine. But it will be interesting to see what/when/if they come up with.

Looks like a Vette from the back.

Another rendering looking like a warmed over 360. :bored

Exactly...

Of course, there are those who have to be the 1st guy in the country/state/county/town to own 'whatever'.

Because there are a lot of faithful GM guys who believe the LS power plant is the finest performance engine ever created.

To this point, it pretty much has been...for the money anyway! ;)
