Hello everyone,

First I would like to thank everyone on this great forum for the info that I picked up before purchasing my GT. I have been reading for about 3 motnhs and registered just recently. Without this forum I would not become the extremely happy owner of a BEAUTIFUL white/blue stripes twin turbo GT! (yes you got it right - it's Shelby's beauty :) - I will have the car delivered in around 1 month. I would like to thank Shelby for the BEST buying experience I have ever had! (I still don't believe that he sold it to me :) Thank you Shelby - you are the man!

A few words about myself:
I live in Moscow, Russia. Being 28 years old I am probably one of the youngest Ford GT owners out there. The car will be the first Ford GT here and I think the only TT in Europe (pls correct me If i am wrong).
I have a few businesses here but my main job is with Russia's largest insurance company where I take care of finance/investment activities.
I am a car freak and before the GT I have had a few 911 porsches. My current car is a 911 turbo with heavy mods. The GT is definately not going to stay in the garage and I am planning on actively driving it, inc. some track time. We currently have 3 tracks in Russia where we have track events with the porsche club and supercar club. The season starts here about mid April, so as I have promised I will post pics of the GT in front of the Kremlin.

The only problem that I will face is servicing the car - there are not dealers here capable of doing it - so I will need to find a pair of good hands and a service/repair manual for the GT - can anyone recommend how can I acqure it? Does ford sell it to private customers - or do I need to ask the local ford dealer to order one for himself?
Otherwise the closest dealer is in Finland I think and it will cost me about 1.5k $ to take the car there to service (a big pain) - Any members here from Finland?
If any of the members of this forum ever come to Russia - pls e-mail or PM me!
Thanks,

Alex

Welcome aboard and enjoy your new gal.

For the most part the service requirements of these gals can be completed by many as long as they are methodical, patient, and have plenty of blue tape to protect all of the surfaces on the gal.

As for service manuals; they can be ordered on line through Helms (as I recall) and are available to all that are willing to write the check. The service and parts manuals will certainly help you with your concerns. I like the parts manual because it will give a nice blow up view of all of the assicated parts within a given area and the service will help to create a road map to follow.

All the best

Welcome Alex. First I must say you have great taste in cars, performance and color combo. :cheers

The service manuals show up on ebay once in awhile.

The other choice is to google Helm manuals, they sell the OEM manuals for many cars and have the GT last I checked.

Should you have trouble, there are plenty of folks here that can offer suggestions and steps to take. All you would need to do is translate this information to your tech.

You got a great car, many of us followed the build here on the forum:thumbsup

We will be waiting for those pics.

Welcome, Alex! :cheers

If you always thought spring seemed a long way off in Moscow this time of year before - it will seem like it takes FOREVER now that you have your GT!

(P.S. The GT's "chin spoiler" is NOT an effective snow plow. :frown)
(And cold weather traction is NOT real good in a FGT anyway! :lol)

Congratulations and welcome Alex. You will love the GT. Please take your time getting comfortable with it, and if it has the stock Goodyear tires, the power could be very troublesome/dangerous with cold tires on cold roads. We will look forward to hearing about your impressions and experiences.:cheers

Welcome to the club Alex,
For all needs and repair for your GT you won't find a better source of information than this forum. You just need a capable mechanic and you should be able to solve any problem without having to ship your car anywhere. The manual is helpful but before doing anything be sure to check this forum or post some questions, you will get excellent answers and suggestions right away. I'm taking mine to New Zealand in May from California and feel very comfortable knowing this forum will help get me out of any trouble I may run into.
Have fun on the track!

Welcome Alex,
I have mentioned many times on this forum how fantastic your (Shelby's) car is. A photo of it in front of the Kremlin would be priceless. Enjoy it, and enjoy being a part of this fantastic forum! :usa

All the best...

Alex, it might just not be obvious, but the manuals are only written in English. The Service Manual is about 1000 pages thick, and the Electrical Manual is about 300 pages thick. To a certain extent, they are not easy to understand, even to those of us whose mother tongue is English (no counting the Brits). Personally, I would suggest sending someone from Moscow to Detroit to study the car with the GTGuys. The cost of the ticket and a weeks stay (plus paying off the GTGuys) will be much more worth it than shipping the car somewhere for service (except maybe Roush in London).

Welcome to the site.

Be careful! I know how much Moscow has changed but you don't get much more obvious than a twin turbo striped GT running down the road! :cheers

Welcome Alex,
Also be aware that the service manual has some topographical errors (like incorrect torque values, etc.) so be sure to ask questions here on the forum just to make sure! Enjoy the ride! :cheers
