Gentlemen,
Many of our members have been to my home during various Rallies to the Rally or other GT functions. When I first moved into this house three years ago, every bedroom was occupied. But last year, Veronica's oldest son graduated from college and moved out freeing up a bedroom in the front of my home. This gave me an opportunity to build the type of home office that I've always dreamed about. A place to house my book collection where I can sit and read, watch football games in HD, listen to music, surf the Ford GT Forum a couple times a day, or actually (gasp :ack) do some work at my desk. I hired a designer and a contractor and told them exactly what I wanted. They ignored everything I told them and proceeded to design something much nicer which they presented to me. Starting in a room with four white walls and off-white carpeting, everything was torn out, tons of hardwood was brought in, and the result is most satisfying. The countertop is green granite quarried in Brazil. The green leather sofa reclines. Underneath the hardwood paneling above the bookshelves is a 3/4" plywood backing that will allow me to mount the trophies Charley and I took in Tanzania last summer as soon as they arrive from Africa.
My contractor, Republic West, asked me if they could take these photos and submit my home office that they constructed as their entry in this year's Southwest United States Contractors Design Contest. I was informed yesterday that my new office was the winner. That, and $2.50 will get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks, but it's still cool.
What do you think?
