Just in case you're PO'd at Ford on spare parts for the GT they aren't the only one. A couple of years ago the Dodge Dealer broke the fuel tank on my truck while replacing a fuel pump. It's the oversized 33 gallon tank. None are available from Dodge (even today) and there is no aftermarket tank made. He and I separately scoured our collective "junk yards" until he located one for which he paid.
The reason for the concern is that the tank didn't leak gas, the break was one of the evap lines to the top of the tank so the failure was an emissions "slow leak" check engine light. This gets hairy. I can't pass emissions in Nevada with a Check Engine light or an emissions pending code. I asked the dealer what would happen if they can't find one since no emissions pass is essentially scrap the truck. It never got that far and I never got an answer from the state as to what to do if you get an emissions related fault but the part is no longer available from anywhere...

Hey guys I received my FGT horn emblem the other day and I must say that it looks EXACTLY like the original. A REAL EASY job and I am totally pleased with the final look. I understand the whole projectile comment and to be quite honest, I am not that concerned. The fit was amazing and I couldn't be happier (especially the price, quality and easy install). If you are going to use that adhesive aluminum disk of the horn button I suggest you disable the airbag under it. The factory button only detaches on one side when the airbag goes off and remains firmly attached to the other side to insure it does not strike the driver in the face causing injury. That stick on sharp edge metal disk is pretty much GUARANTEED to launch straight into your son's face if that airbag ever deploys. You may "not be that concerned" today but if your son looses an eye because you were bugged more about the cosmetics of the horn button than his safety you will hate yourself forever. My son Charley also drives my 2006 GT at Forum events and there is no way I'd let him drive it with that disk stuck on. You are saving $300 lousy dollars ($200 for that disk vs $500 to properly refinish the actual airbag button) and it's the worst $300 deal you could make.
Hold that sharp edge metal disk in your hand and turn it sideways. Imagine loading it into a launching device and firing it at 150 MPH straight into your son's face edge first.
PLEASE take that damn thing off and throw it in the trash. Remove your airbag and send it off to be refinished properly. Then come join me at my Motor Vault in Fountain Hills for a quality Manhatten on me brother!

Yeah $500 seems pretty cheap on a $400,000 car ... especially when there's a risk of injury. I'm not judgin' but giving away a $400K car would seem to imply you can afford it.

OK guys..... I'm not being cheap (and yes, I can afford it). I just do not want to take apart my whole airbag/steering system just to change or repair an emblem. Second, The car gets driven less than 800 miles per year. Purchased 15 years ago and has less than 12000 on it. I appreciate the sentiments here but I don't judge anyone nor do I want to be judged. I may purchase a suit of armor so my son won't get hurt (sarcastic). There are so many things that can kill us when we are driving, an emblem (although it can do major damage) is not losing me sleep. Thanks again everyone. Not being an ass. But some of the comments were a bit rude and judgmental.

FYI - I think everyone who has commented here is just trying to be helpful. Many owners may not realize the inherent dangers of adding a stick-on button. Sounds like you do and you are OK with it... so that is cool too.
While I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, I want to clarify the quote above for any future readers of this thread. Removing the airbag/horn assembly is downright trivial. There are only two screws to remove it. They are under round-ish plastic plugs on the back of the steering wheel. Use a 1/4" ratchet with a deepwell 6mm socket and you can have them out in two minutes. The horn/airbag assembly will now flop forward exposing the two airbag connectors. Before disconnecting them, touch the bolt securing the steering wheel with your fingers. This will insure that you have discharged any static electricity. Now you can remove the airbag connectors. With the assembly out on a workbench and facedown on some soft cloths, once again touch some nearby metal surfaces to make sure you are statically discharged. You can then remove the 4 small nuts securing the small airbag module to the horn module. With that removed, you can now safely (and legally) ship the horn module off for repair. Assembly is just the reverse order. Just take some precautions that you are statically discharged before handling the airbag module or its connectors.
Or you can use a sticker to cover the center piece. It looks good.

I have the red and blue sticker on mine. I think the previous owner (Xcentric) put it on, and guessing he got it from you. I like it, it is sort of a retro look.

I would add dont forget to disconnect the battery first. I usually disconnect the negative cable and wait 45 min before proceeding.
IMHO, battery does not need to be disconnected. The very miniscule amount of danger is from static electricity. Battery connected or not doesn't come into play. That said, no harm either to disconnect the battery and if it gives you piece of mind, all the better!
