My hat does not require eating, although I'm surprised that its so heavy, I was hoping for around 2950-3000 wet. Also looks like my spreadsheet for horsepower was pretty good, it predicted 650 hp to hit 216mph. This actually implies that it's perhaps not as slippy as it looks, would love to know the Cd
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, although I don't have your spreadsheet. With almost 100 more HP, I would have expected it to be significantly faster at top speed than ours--well into the 220 MPH range. That strongly indicates the the aero was designed to take maximize other factors than just Cd. Since it was designed as a race car, I'm sure downforce was an important consideration, which drives up induced drag, so I'm guessing that was the main tradeoff.

As for weight: Again, it was designed as a race car, so the design probably incorporated safety features (integral roll cage?, etc) and other features that would not ordinarily be included in a street car.

As for 647 HP, If past Ford performance specs are a guide, that's the minimum HP they guarantee, actual may be a bit higher. For those in the tuning business, I'll bet there's plenty more to be had by changing the boost limits and running higher octane gas.

Tesla has made 0 to 60 times pretty much irrelevant.

I am still waiting for the first serious road test of the GT by a renowned magazine like Evo or Car (I suppose it's Road&Track for the USA). When is that going to happen? The spec. doesn't say anything about how agile the car is or how it connects with the driver. I am so curious if the GT can deliver. The Top Gear article was just a bunch of pretty pics.

I let you know what it does with the Pilot sport cups around the Glen! Wonder if will be faster than my Cup car
Heres what it looks like in my 05 996 GT3 cup car 1.56.5
The previous best time in a 996 gt3 cup was Leh Keen at a 156.9

Does not seem like there are many posted lap times from Calabogie Motorsports Park to compare, but a 911 GT3 Cup went under two minutes there.

I wouldn't expect something different given that Top Gear is tabloid style

To be fair to Pat who wrote the piece, it's hard to review anything properly from the passenger seat. I respect him as a journalist and he's a very nice chap so if there's fault it doesn't lie at his door. It'll be interesting to see what his opinion is when he's finally allowed to drive the car.
