I am still waiting on custom fuel rails to be machined up but here are a few pictures of the blow by solution we came up with.

The canister, mounted behind the airbox.

We used some really nice fuel line connections because this would be so visible under the bonnet glass.

A better view of the line placement.

Are you worried at all about the blow-by canister being close to the exhaust?

Are you using a source for the billet rails that will allow you to sell to others?

Those are sweet fuel lines and connectors.

can somebody tell me how much boost and rwhp can you run through the 4.0 L whipple before the stock fuel system can't feed it? it seems to me that you can safely run 16 psi of boost which is ~ 750 rwhp as i recall?

I'm not that worried about the heat from the exhaust. In fact if the catch can fills up very fast (I don't think it will) I will have the catch can just drain into the exhaust. Detonation was a bigger concern, all that oil being push back into the motor at high rpm can't be good. The billet rails are a one off at this point but I have all the CAD work so I can make as many as I want now. The rails are designed for use on a return system so they wont be much use on the stock fuel system (unless you plug one end). If you want a set just shoot me a PM and I'll get you pricing once I get the final numbers in.

The 2.7 pulley swap on a stock blower makes about 620-650 rwhp @ 17lbs boost. I doubt the 4.0L whipple is much more efficient, certainly not 100hp more efficient. I am running the 19lbs pulley (which is making about 20lbs of boost) but I also had some other fuel problems so it may not be necessary at all on your car. The up side for me it that I can run some different types of fuel now; race fuel, E85, methanol. It is just a matter of tuning for whatever I want to use.

WOW ! You and Shawn have approached and then proceeded through this project in a very methodical and first rate manner.

Truly very nice

Thank you for sharing

Fred, I know you are debating your options, but there are a lot of people out there running 19psi on the Gen2 Whipples presumably without fuel issues. If 16psi is the safe max for a 4.0L Whipple (I don't know if this is right or not), but then I think the Gen2 might put more HP to the wheels.

Last picture today, I promise. The fuel rails are done and ready for install. I am not trying to make any money off of this project but my fabricator/tuner would love to see more return for his investment of time and the headache of dealing with me, daily (sometimes hourly). :biggrin With that in mind, these rails will be available to all and can be fitting for use on a return fuel system (ie: the big over haul) or for use on "dead end" system.

These picture are the rails in ruff form. We are in a hurry for The Mile so they will be smoothed and anodized later. They can be anodized in almost any color. You also notice one picture with a small button on the drivers side seatbelt chamber, this is a switch that will manually activate the primer pump. The idea is that this is used in conjunction with a switched out hose that will allow for an easy drainage of the fuel in the tank thus allowing a quick safe option for switching to alternative fuels (by alternative fuels I mean ozone burning, cancer causing nuclear waste). :thumbsup

I just noticed that we bolted our emissions defining fuel splitter onto the "certified for sale in California" sticker... irony abounds.

I don't even know what a fuel rail does but those are so cool looking I might have to get some. What a great thread.

It sounds like you and me have the same sickness when it comes to cars.

Is it shinny? Does it go on my car? I'll take two.
