Some pics from delivery day (I just got them off the camera)

The huge (almost 100' long) Intercity van. Holds 7 cars. The trailer is the standard size but his tractor has almost as much space as my house.

Whenever Intercity comes there is always something special. This time my car was at the front. This had to get out of the way to get mine off. Wow! What a beauty.

When my Cobra came home the last time it's bunk mate was a 300SL Gull Wing. This time just the lowly roadster. Still close to a 700K vehicle.

Got back from three days in San Jose. Managed to catch airplane crud. Feel like c**p.

In the mail was the paper from the motor vehicle. The plate is GULF GT. I sent the check today.

The weather is going to be awfully nice around here this weekend. Let me know if you get tempted to get the car out - would like to meet up nearby. The canyons are probably sanded but the roads out here are clean.

OK, so whaddya think?

After a short connect the dots conversation about the plate a friend (who has a golf cart for toodling around town) suggested:

GULF CRT

I like it a lot and might blow off the other one.

Way too windy. Our little weather station recorded 40-50 sustained, 71.1 gust. Then the recording head blew off the mount. I did get the CoolTech battery tender wiring harness set up so it wasn't a wasted weekend.

"Houston, we have a problem."

When Rich got the car as he was putting on the pulley he emailed me some pictures of supercharger oil on the ribs of the engine beneath the snout. As I was going to take my daughter for a ride on Thanksgiving day I remembered to take a look. More puddles. Dang! Yesterday I dried everything off, and this afternoon took it for a little spin and it sure feels like there is oil coming from the area of the pulley down the snout. I'm not sure I did enough drive time to really confirm so now it will probably wait a while.

This was the kind of thing I had concerns about on a low miles car that has sat for 5+ years. I've got some plans working but will likely pick up a take off one and send this one to rebuild (PSE Superchargers) so I have a spare.

I'm a competent wrencher so will probably do the swap myself. From some descriptions it's easiest with two people and have a volunteer helper although I think I can enlist my mechanic friend for a bottle of Black Velvet.

I guess if this is the worst problem I'm still OK :)

After the ride I wiped her down and put on the car cover. Dang, I'm describing what you do when you get back to the barn with a horse except it isn't a curry comb and wool blanket :)

P.S. The guys on the forum here have been so helpful! I contacted a few by PM and got some helpful comments. Great place, great community.

He didn't remove the snout for the pulley upgrade? If you want something done right, do it yourself...

Good excuse to upgrade to a Whipple!

The S/C has to be removed to change the pulley on the stock Ford snout. There is not enough room. The Kenne Bell allows it to be changed without removing the S/C but you have to do the change once. But the bearing/seal on the pulley shaft is not disturbed during this process. The seal between the snout and the S/C body seems to be OK.

So today was an official not working day but I'm working two days this week to trade for two days in Scottsdale for Chip's Party and the Barrett Jackson auction.

The gal had been sitting on the charger for about three weeks under the car cover. I got my new plates (GULF GT, pic to follow later) and decided I needed to get them installed. I'd had to pull off the cover to get the insurance card and hadn't put it back on. I like to warm it up every two weeks to keep the battery and fluids in good health (yes, it's on a trickle charger but nothing helps like giving it a run). So I checked the weather forecast for the long weekend. Today was to be warmer than the rest of the week so I thought about taking her for a little ride after putting on the plates.

Now I'm not kidding about what is to follow.

I left work at 3:00. I circled the loop to find the least wet route out of the subdivision and there really wasn't a good way out. One way was wet and the other way had someone's landscaping river rocks. But then on the way the last 1/2 block to the house this song came on the radio:

I considered it an omen. Took the little girl out for some fun. :) Decided to dodge the rocks instead of getting her wet. Not far, about 6 miles or so just enough to get the temp up to operating temp and back again. 10 minutes or so. Plenty of time to remind me how much fun and that spring is way too far away.

By the way, the lyrics have this verse:

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

Just sayin :)

I think my girl has an official theme song :)

I think you, DriveBy and StormCat all listen to the same kind of music.

But the timing I couldn't make up.

You know you're getting old when they play 80's music on the Oldies Station.

You also know you're getting old when the saying used to be "70's music on the Oldies Station", and even older when it was 60's (and they still played 50's and even Big Band stuff from the 40's). Realistically some of the latter was due to the midwest tastes as we also had Mitch Miller and Lawrence Welk.

By the way, in the video that that really is Cyndi's mother...

The GT was the best car I've ever owned. I have to say that my Cobra was my favorite car ever to drive though. I just can't get in and out of them and drive them with my eyes and back any more. Too much traffic in Vegas. Alas, there won't be anything fun to replace it. Just a Honda CRV with backup and right turn cameras.

You've had a great adventure Tony. Congrats on the ride that most people never experience. I'm sure you will miss your Heritage.
