First 2 mods I did where the Transaxle cooler & the exhaust. If you dont do anything else, those are two to do.

But does the trans cooler over cool under normal driving conditions? It's important for those fluids to get to the correct operating temp.

Not that I have noticed. Kendall aka Cooltechllc put mine in, who also makes them. Good question for him.

My wife and I went to Vegas to see Blondie Saturday night. A friend with a small auto dealership helped usher all of the stuff "through the system" while I was gone, and he emailed me last night while at the show that he had the title. So I guess it's official. Now it's to The GT Guys for finalization. All the parts are on order. It will probably be close to the end of the month before it gets here though considering transport time.

I have good news and bad news Tony... The good news is I got to open my present today. Took it out at sunrise and put 100 miles on it. What a beast of a car. Not nearly as stout down low as the GT was but once it get's on top the cam, look out, it's very fast probably faster than the GT. It requires a firm effort to do everything. Braking, clutching, steering and shifting all require commitment. Night and day different than the GT. The upside is you feel every aspect of the road and what the car is doing where the GT was somewhat vague.

Now the bad news. It snowed nearly a foot up here on the mountain yesterday. 3 feet at Wold Creek. Keep your fingers crossed it holds off coming down into Denver until you get her here!

That is what I would have expected based on the Cobra. Yes, they have no power help - no power brakes, no power steering. If you want to stop you'd better really PUSH on the brake. The other thing to remember is that the GT40 wasn't intended to get off the blocks fast, but to run reliably at high speeds and high RPMs for hours on end. And the suspension is going to be very stiff. My description is "you can drive over a quarter and tell if it's heads or tails". In this respect the Cobra and GT40 share some common roots - 60's race car syndrome. By the way, if you want the GT40 low end response put a Paxton Supercharger on it.

Yep. You should have seen the snow on the peaks flying back from Vegas. It's winter up there. Hopefully it'll hold off until after Halloween. Is Trail Ridge still open?

I would doubt it. But this week looks like 70s and a return to indian summer. Is there a better place to live in the world? I think not!

Tony,

I'm glad you finally found and purchased your Ford GT. I still have my supercharged Shelby GT. See you at the next Rally if not sooner.

I'm thinking seriously of doing the advanced class at Bondurant. 1.5 days with their cars and 1/2 day with the GT. They warned me about the abuse a two day advanced class puts on the car (you'll need at least new brakes and tires and it will squeak and rattle afterwards). I'd like to do the first part with the Formula Mazdas but for the last half day they may want it to be the Corvettes. Worth scoping out. If so it would be in March or so. I'll probably come down for the BJ auction in January but will fly.

I hope Rally VII is in the western US - East Coast is too far for me.

You will chew up consumables like brake pads, and tires, but the car is strong, it won't sweak and rattle after.

A big congratulations on your new purchase! Life will never be the same....
Well.....how many of us ran both days at Miller Motorsports Park in August at Rally VI? Squeaks and rattles?? I don't think so. I have 20 plus track days on my GT, and others have more. No funny noises or sensations at all.
Twobjshelbys, don't worry about your GT getting worn out on the track. That is what it lives for!
The Bonduraunt people must be talking about the Corvettes or BMWs that come to play. :)

Great progress being made on the mods. Should be done by mid week. I'm having a dyno run done too so I can compare a sea level (more or less) to our high-altitude (Ft Collins, CO) where I will get it re-baselined. I expect 15-20% loss.

You will gain back the 15-20% with a bumper delete.

Ah, Ft Collins, a beautiful spot. Part of my misspent youth was freshman year at Colorado State. Seems to me I had a few Coors beers at Horsetooth back in 1974. Exciting about your car, I'll be anxious to hear your impressions when you get it home.
