What a 1000+ HP isn't enough? I have less than 750, but have CARB watching my every move.

What did you do with the guts of the motor? Did Henessey do the entire build?

Ok, here are the details.

As most of you guys know I did a rebuild from the stock engine about a year/ year and a half ago because I cracked a couple pistons and bent a valve. At that point we did a rebuild and put aftermarket pistons, valves, rods. We didn't change the crank because as most of you know even at these power levels they don't break.

Well about 3 months ago after doing some spirited freeway pulls with some friends I did a pull and about 2 seconds after the hard pull the SC belt shredded (I think I posted video of it). We thought it was the balancer because the motor sounded fine but was out of balance when it idled. Well when the balancer was ordered and about the be put on John's guys noticed something wasn't right. The snout of the crank had bent.......ouch. Sooooo, we did another rebuild and replaced the crank with a Bryant Crank and are going to take the SC off for now to get me some more peak HP. I'm hoping some extra HP without the SC so I can run a bigger number at the Mile.

Depending on what I run at the Mile and how I like the car without the SC I might put the SC back on at some point.

I am sure Bryant is a great product but I haven't heard their name in the GT market. Why did you decide to go with them over the tested stuff? Did anything else get damaged or just the snout? Glad she's back together, looking forward to helping you "test" it again soon.

Ummm Ray is using them in his GT's. Mark Highdecker uses it in his 235 mph at the mile GT. BMF uses them.

What other cranks have you heard about for GT's?

stock crank snout was bent, that's all of the damage.

Bryant is the only crank for the GT motor. I originally had them designed IN 09 after I bought my car as John Mahovetz told me the stock crank would not work for what I wanted todo. Then John added some of his specs to them aswell last year. He will tell you the motor runs cleaner above 7000rpms due to the crank only. Less harmonics means happier motor. Most of the aftermarket 5.4 cranks do NOT have center counter weights and this is the main reason the GT cranks have issues and mainly above 7000rpms and over 1200hp. I also make the crank snout 1'' longer for a longer keyway to balencer contact. From the no1 main to the timing gear on the crank it tappers instead of being the same thickness all the way to the main like a stock crank. All to make the crank flex less with a blower on it. That was my IDEA along with the 1'' longer snout:)
Anyways I will have the bigest stroke crank in a GT yet as they just finished my 4.350 stroke crank and we will see how it works. 374'' of mod motor fun:)

The cranks come balenced and John will tell you for the money you can not beat them and the quality is unheard of. Bryants name is deep in all racing and amoung the best in the business including nascar etc. I would expect nothing less of the 5.4 Ford crank and we have seen just what they can handle. Looks at Ray's 2000+hp monster. I have sold 13 of these cranks alone. They are a trick piece, costly but worth it.

My bad, for some reason I thought John fab'd those cranks. Did you under size the oil pump pulley too?

Anybody using the Tilton carbon clutch or is everybody using a Spec?

Great info. How much does the Bryant crank run?
