UPDATE – 15 July 3:40pm:
I have received several pre-order payments :thumbsup , but not all. I have PM’d those who have not paid that are on the pre-order list, if you are on the list below and still want the screws at the pre-order price please provide payment by 23 July.

For those not on the final pre-order list who want screws, there are still some available (see the link below). I’ve upped the min qty to 40 only because I don’t want to spend the rest of my life counting/boxing/shipping screws:ack.
http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?19357-Belly-Pan-Screws&p=240310#post240310

Add’l info: Based on correspondence with another forum member, I became concerned about the coating. I discussed my concerns with the screw mfr, his response was that this is most definitely zinc plating, as evidenced by the iridescent quality of the coating (see photo below). His statement to me about the performance characteristics and the appearance vs. the sample will be “very close if not exact”. There may be a slight difference because the exact zinc plating recipe used on the Ford screws is not known, and could only be determined by expensive testing that would add weeks to the lead time. To further confirm, I took samples to two local plating companies who did indeed confirm the coating as zinc, no doubt.

Incidentally, before I went to the plating companies I stopped by my local Ford dealer to pick up an unused sample…. $11.02 + tax ea.:bored

Thank you!

UPDATE - 1 July 9:30am:
I placed the order Tuesday, rec’d confirmation yesterday, and am paying today. For those who have already paid – thank you! Everyone else on the list please provide payment in the next couple of weeks.

Lead time is 6-8 weeks, I’ll pass on a refined date when the mfr provides it.
Attached is a print of what we have purchased.

For those who did not make the list and still want to purchase screws, please see the following post:

UPDATE - 28 June 12:50am:
I sent an example screw to the manufacturer rep, he felt the plating was black zinc, not black oxide. A forum member recognized that as well and is confirming with his plating source, and I am going to independently verify locally. Good thing is zinc is a better coating, bad thing is that it is more expensive. Not a problem considering the order amount from forum members:thumbsup, plus I am purchasing several hundred more for possible future sale to subsidize, therefore I can still get the last price quoted for a qty of 2500.

At this price the savings to forum members compared to the Ford list price of $6.48 for 4800 screws is almost $28,000:eek. That is a savings of $288 and $577 for the orders of 50 and 100 respectively. (I know most don't pay list, but still :biggrin)

When payment is due I'll request payment from you via post update. (paypal to my email address, or email me if you don't paypal)
Please include your forum username on all correspondence.
The final shipped price is:
$43.50 for an order of 50
$79.00 for an order of 100

For anyone interested in purchasing my extras, please email or pm. I plan to offer a few qty/price combos, sorry but I will be taking a modest profit on those so the above prices won't apply to anyone not on the list below.

I was thinking of replacements as well, but in lightweight materials. Ti would be expensive, but last almost as long as steel, black anodized aluminum alloy would probably be strong enough, but would not last as many insertion/removal cycles.

I too thought about weight. The steel screws could be made to 20mm length instead of 25mm. They are at least 5mm longer than they need to be, I imagine for a speedy installation at the factory. I just figured more GT owners would prefer a pure stock size.

The price from ford is ridiculous. I lost a couple and figured they would be less that $1 ea. Wrong. I don't recall the torque spec but it is high so I suspect the Ford parts are hardened. I have started Torquing mine as I apparently lost the leading edge screws which allowed the air to get underneath and rolled the front of the pan under the car. Scared the s--t out of me as the noise was terrible. Had to replace the whole belly pan for want of a screw or two.

I'll take 50.

Where in Illinois is the plant? Perhaps I can get a raiding team and just go steal several thousand.

I'm in for 100, but please let me know where the plant is. Frank

Count me in for 50 of the stock length unit. Thanks for asking.

Let me know how, where and whe. To send payment. You might consider Paypal for these transactions. It sure is easier than mailing money or a check.

I went with Stainless Metric socket button head screws from BoltDepot.com that were around $ .50 a piece. Replaced all under-body screws for pans; diffuser; splitter; and rocker panels. Also replaced bumper mounting screws woth stainless allen head bolts. No need to do anything heroic. BoltDepot.com can get you anything you want in a jiffy.
