Long Beach GP

Nice warm sunny day here in Long Beach for Friday practice and qualifying. The GT and Porsches look the strongest. #66 almost hit the wall on cold tires in turn 10...it was a close one.

30 min left in practice and it looks like it will be a Ford-Porsche battle for qualifying this afternoon....but things may change as the track will be much grippier. The 911s sound incredible, very high pitched sound. I'm in Grandstand 18 and get great views of turn 9, 10, 11. It will be a HOTT day tomorrow

The GT's like the hot grippie track.. The BMW's have some big power so maybe they're laying low until qualifying .. The best thing about the sound of the GT race car is you know where it is by sound because it's so unique..

Porsche always does well at this track but I think this year really illustrates how the Ford/CGR team has come together to make the GT a contender in all the races. Go Blue and see you tomorrow Sebastian!

Yes and neither does the Corvette but the track heat up quite a lot for the afternoon qualifying and more rubber got layed out on the track which helped Ford and Chevy cut the gap they had in the early morning practice with Porsche. If you look at the times, every car is just 0.2 seconds from each other so it will be quite competitive tomorrow. Almost certainly there will be crashes and the pit strategy will also play a role. I'm a bit disappointed not to see Risi Competizione and Aston Martin here in Long Beach :/
