Jason that is some fine attention to detail you got there!:thumbsup

I have one question... when you tape of an area how do you get it to the same likeness as the surrounding area when you remove the tape? A slight hand buff?:confused

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks!

Which areas are you referring to? I often tape off window trim, plastic trim, door handles, etc... any change in the material I am currently polishing. Buffing those other areas after removing the tape varies on what the area is and how bad it is. Sometimes by hand, sometimes by machine, but it will get taken care of if it needs attention. :thumbsup

Ha there's no doubt you'll make it perfect :thumbsup

I'm referring to the rear Corvette lettering on the back of this '04... when you tape it off and go over it with a buffer and then remove the tape the area where the tape was will not be near as swirl free as the area around it.

Thanks again!

Check out those exhaust tips...Jewels...

The owner of that C5 chose to put stainless steel inserts inside of the embossed Corvette lettering and by doing so, this now [obviously] introduces a non-clear coated item to the polishing surface. Had I ran my buffer across the inserts, they could have damaged my pad, slid out of the embossed area and scratched the vehicle, or been just plain damaged - Requiring replacement. The safest route was to tape them in place and keep the buffer off of them. As for doing clear coat restoration on the spacing between the letters, introducing a polish in this area could cause undesired results with the adhesion of the stainless inserts. Needless to say the safest route was to leave them alone, period. Had the inserts not been there, I would not have taped off the area and needed to work around them, but better safe than sorry in my book :thumbsup There is much more ground to cover on that car than the spacing between the rear corvette letters, but had the owner wanted me to concentrate on that area, the letters would have to come off.

So I made a roof in Atlanta, how about a window in Dearborn?

The driver side window does not roll up. It could be because the door handle is on the INSIDE and would require the window to be down to get back in (Even though there could be a solenoid to pop the door open) either way, the window switch isn't doing anything, but at least the passenger side works. :thumbsup

Dealer had put a bunch of swirl marks in it doing the customer a "Favor" by washing it before he took delivery. It took a lot of work, but here it is covered in a Zymol Estate Glaze after many hours of clear coat restoration to not only eliminate the swirls, but bring the gloss beyond what a new car looks like when it is delivered.

The owner of this red Z06 just posted:

"Last October I bought an '08 Z-06
The Dealer assured me that there would not be any problems if I let them wash it as part of dealer prep...
WRONG...
My next mistake was letting them try to correct it...
WRONG
Thousands of rotary swirls all over the car.
I was trying to sort out what to do, because I was not prepared to keep it the way it was.
A Great Lakes post last fall led me to contact Jason...

Jason worked his magic. As a result I will now keep the Z
Jason... you are an incredibly gifted person.

I will keep posting up the more exclusive vehicles here, no BMW M3's per BONY :wink But I am detailing 30 vehicles, 5 motorcycles, and 2 enclosed trailers this trip. Pictures? You bet! Sleep? I don't know what that is anymore. But I love what I do...

Seeing is believing, I dropped off one of my Mustangs for a day at Jason's Spa http://www.motorcitymarauders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6330&page=3- I saw the subject Z06 car in the delivered state - 500 low miles that looked like +15,000 on the finish - you guys would have sued (and prevailed) against the dealer who sold it. Delighted to report Jason's work is all that you guys have stated in your posts! Great work Jason :thumbsup

Rex,

Glad to hear you are satisfied with the results! So far you're not the only one to say it looks better than the day they're delivered as there are a couple of Fox body owners on the Motor City Marauder site that mentioned it via posts and telephone already. :thumbsup

Here is to the best looking fox on the road and I hope to see you at Trilogy's open house on the 31st. Anyone and everyone is welcome too :cheers
