I was trying to get you to Raleigh but we are in drought still with a watering ban.... No cars to be washed by home owners.

have to sneak it in the middle of the night :secret:

Was getting so bad they were talking about using paper plates in resturants. This week they banned home owners from having garbage disposals in the City of Raleigh! Think it was started by a councilman who moved in from Kalifornia non the less :frown

Maybe next year Jason:wink

Yikes, well I hope you get some relief soon. I can't imagine the look on anyone's face when they dine at a nice restaurant and it is served on a paper plate either :ack

The next car I detail will be dedicated to you :biggrin

New Technology

DeFelsko PosiTector 6000 - The most accurate paint thickness gauge on the market for both ferrous & non-ferrous metals. This means it will read paint depth on steel, aluminum, alloys, titanium and other metal substrates. The DeFelsko PosiTector 6000 comes with a probe that can read from 0-60 mils with an amazing 1% accuracy, compared to the standard 3% and 5%. It also features data logging capabilities giving Jason's Auto Spa the technology to produce paint inspection reports and save vital information about your paint thickness so it may be kept on file for future reference. It is important to determine the total thickness to track how much clear coat you have removed after the restoration services because there are guidelines to keep within. It is also important to know if certain areas are too shallow or too thick, as they will both react differently than the other body panels and we would adjust our clear coat restoration methods accordingly.
pt6000.jpg

DeFelsko PosiTector 200 B/Adv - This thickness gauge is used for measuring thickness on plastics and composites. This way we can accurately determine the thickness of plastic panels such as bumper covers and even entire vehicles such as the Chevrolet Corvette. The PosiTector 200 uses proven ultrasound technology to echo a high frequency sound pulse that reflects from any surface that is a different density. It will return readings up to three layers thick - Your primer coat, color coat, and clear coat in most cases. Although we don't need to know the thickness of the primer coat, it is extremely useful to know the thickness of the color coat vs. clear coat.
pt200.jpg

New Microfiber Towels - Although not a new technology for us, we have replaced our entire collection of microfiber towels with brand new high-quality microfiber featuring an industry best 70/30 polyamide content rating. 450 brand new microfiber towels await to grace your vehicle's needs for a plush 2008.

Water De-ionization - Illinois has some of the hardest water in the entire country at over 14 gpg (Grains Per Gallon). We have utilized a water softening system in the past but felt the need to take it a step further due to some stray water spots we discovered in the midst of the detailing process both local and mobile. This process produces water that is very pure, similar to distilled water, for a spotless wash even in direct sunlight.

3M PPS Sun Gun - Often used in body shop environments, the 3M PPS Sun Gun is used to mimic direct sunlight and show swirl marks, scratches, and many other flaws during the clear coat inspection process. The 3M PPS Sun Gun will replace our Brinkmann MaxFire but not our 1500W of direct Halogen lighting for constant observation and analysis.

New Detailing Stage Changes

New Services

Clear Coat Restoraton/CCR - Clear coat restoration is the process of restoring your clear coat to factory and often better than factory conditions. If you have ever looked at how your vehicle's exterior panels look in direct sunlight, you have probably seen an array of scratches also known as swirl marks or cob webbing. This process replaces the past "Paint Cleaning Add-on" with a service that is much more involved and offers even further extensive repair of your vehicle's clear coat in unison with our DeFelsko PosiTector gauges for the safest clear coat restoration available. This process is explained in great detail on our Clear Coat Restoration page.
ccr.jpg

Mobile Detailing - Mobile Detailing is available upon request. If you are interested, simply let us know when you schedule your appointment and we will forward you more information. Each experience is customized based on your selected detailing package.

New Add-On Options

Paint Inspection Report - Using our two DeFelsko paint depth gauges, we are able to measure the thickness of your paint to incredible accuracy. On fiberglass constructed vehicles, such as Chevrolet Corvettes, we can often determine the exact thickness of up to three separate layers. Using this data, we will graph the thickness of your paint for your records. If it was ever detailed before or you purchased it used, this is the definitive way to know your paint's depth. Shallow depth can point out clear coat failure before it happens and thicker areas will show where an accident may have occurred.

The Finest Carnauba Waxes on Earth - For anyone interested in the ultimate upgrade to your Stage V experience, we offer a selection of the finest Carnauba Waxes ever blended in the world. Please contact us directly for more information.

Equipment & Supplies we use

Jason's Auto Spa utilizes some of the finest equipment and supplies that are on the market today. We do not use brands that most detailers would use as we are not concerned about how inexpensive a bottle of polish is or how expensive a paint depth gauge may be. We care about the results and accuracy above all else.

I was last in Palos Park in November of 2007 and I am back this week detailing for a couple of the same customers but many new ones that could not get in on last November's detailing trip. I am working out of the same garage and arrived today to setup my equipment and meet a couple of the new customers to talk about their vehicles and discuss how they care for, and plan to care for, their vehicle after the clear coat restoration process along with a quote for the restoration labor.

I could not fit everything I have in my truck, so I need to fill it up again and bring the rest of it tomorrow morning. Still missing are two more full organizing bins, vacuum, extractor, some other misc. supplies. Gotta have the right tools for the job.

First up tomorrow is a black 2004 Corvette that the current owner purchased used. The Corvette has a great shine and you can tell the owner takes care of it, however, it was clear that the previous owner led this Corvette through a life of machine car washes. I based that off the thicker scratches on the top surfaces and lighter scratches on the sides, due to the weight of the cloth washers on the top surfaces giving the top heaver scratching. Had it been hand washed, the scratch depth would be consistent regardless of surface angle.

Day #1 in my Palos Park 2008 detailing trip.

Paint Thickness Readings prior to CCR:

The gauge is telling me that there is 2.2 mil of clear coat. After reading the entire Covette, it was concluded that is is all original paint and it has never been in any accidents.

Clear Coat Restoration / CCR -

All scratches/swirls are gone, the dots are very common for Corvettes and are actually pretty deep...This is because of the way the vehicle is designed and how it "picks up" everything in front.

18.jpg

A little dusty after the heavier polishing. While not even polished to remove the lighter imperfections caused by the heavier polishing, it looks great already.

19.jpg

The roof, all finished:

20.jpg

Dusty, I know... After the clear coat restoration, the vehicle is hand washed again before applying the last step product, in this case Zaino from my Stage IV.

At this point, the camera battery died and when it finished charging back up, it was time to head home. To be continued tomorrow.. :cheers

Very much so! This one is a CR Spotless DIC-20 Water De-Ionization System. They make a smaller version for normal people :biggrin So I had to get the big kahuna...

Yesterday was mostly polishing to remove the many deep swirls and scratches that once dominated the finish. Today I polished the surface to a deep crisp shine.

22.jpg

23.jpg

24.jpg

Check out those exhaust tips...Jewels...

25.jpg

After all of the polishing, there was an isopropyl alcohol/water wipe down and a complete re-wash to clean up the dusting that the polishes left behind.

26.jpg

Doing the interior surfaces, door jambs, windows, engine, wheels, etc... Zaino is on the Corvette drying. Microfiber towels are placed in the areas water drips to prevent them from interfering with the Zaino.
